Watching this video, I realized how much I've learned from you, Donna! I refer to you with my family as "the sweet lady who taught me to square foot garden". : ) Thank you for so generously sharing your knowledge. Your recommendation of the greenstalk was all the endorsement I needed and it was my gift to myself for the fall garden season! Love it, worth every penny! Good morning Donna. I just subscribed to your channel after "finding" you again. I live in Zone 9B along the carcinogenic coast. I live for Thai food and after being involuntarily retired due to an accident I started growing as many ingredients as possible, mostly from grocery store leftovers. I have been gifted a few essential ingredients from my Thai friends such as galangal and my kaffir lime tree. This year I took a leap and bought some pepper plants(jalapeno. tabasco, and cayenne}at the local Lowes or Home Depot? I got a late start and had a few minor problems but it has been so much fun, especially now as they are beginning to fruit. My wife and I have been considering a retirement move to W. North Carolina to get farther away from hurricanes and to get more seasons LOL. Would you mind sharing what county you live in? I'm sure I'll be asking more questions as I love your channel, your tips, and your voice ! TIA, Will

No way unless it's user error. I have 7 Greenstalks and have been growing in them for 5 years. Only one time, I had one situated on a sloping driveway and we had winds from a hurricane which made land fall on the coast of NC. The winds made their way through the western North Carolina mountains and blew over the GS I had on the slope. It was okay because it was close to the end of the growing season anyway. Happy Gardening!

Hello, I am having an issue and I'd like your help if possible. My jalapeno plant has many healthy blooms. However, they only put out a maximum of 3 peppers at a time. They will only produce more fruits when I harvest the peppers which have grown. I would prefer to let my peppers stay on for a bit to let them turn red but my yield is so low. Can you tell me why my blooms drop or don't mature if I already have peppers? Am I not fertilizing enough? Thank you! I really love your channel and I appreciate you for sharing your knowledge with everyone; it's really helpful.
@twindles7195
3 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I haven't heard of that before is your plant large enough to grow? My jalapeno was kinda skinny and still produced which probably wasn't good. But if you want red you can pluck then while there green and put them by a window or something they'll turn red after like a few weeks
@TheOpelkoenjas
2 жыл бұрын
Blooms dropping and low yield could be an indication of: - too much water/not enough water - too much fertilization/not enough fertilization/wrong kind of fertilization - bug infestation either on the plant itself or in your soil (or both) - too warm/too cold - not enough sunlight - overall weak plant (weak seeds to start off with, bad genetics). It's too hard to tell from here without knowing what you feed them, how often you feed them, how much water you give them, etc., so giving you advice right here on the spot is nearly impossible, my friend. But I myself did have that same issue with one hot pepper this year - while the other ones weren't affected at all - and it turned out it had a really bad bug infection. Not only on the plant itself - which I was able to tackle pretty quickly, but also in the soil itself - which I didn't notice until I pulled it out of its pot. URGH. 95% of the blooms fell off in less than 48 hours, resulting in a very low yield on that one particular plant. So maybe THAT was your issue too? Cheers.

Hi! Here is a video which should help: kzitem.info/news/bejne/2WONtaqdsnWKgI4 I feed about every 7 to 10 days and get around a total of 20 pounds of peppers per each 5 tier original Greenstalk. I continuously feed them to encourage new blooms. Unfortunately, the soil blend I use (in the "tips" video), many of the components are hard to find or out of stock right now. It is fine however, to use a potting soil mix. Make sure to use potting soil.
