A tutorial from start to finish on how to grow beautiful oyster mushrooms at home on sawdust fuel pellets and Aspen shavings with a simple and effective pasteurization method. This method doesn't require any bulk substrate sterilization or expensive equipment, and works great for most wood loving mushrooms. In this video, I'm using the Bratislavian Blue Pleurotus ostreatus strain, one of my favorites.
For fruiting blocks my standard recipe by weight is:
2 lbs. dry hardwood fuel pellets
2 lbs. 13 oz. water (at or near boiling for pasteurization)
Pasteurize for 60 to 90 minutes, then cool to room temp
Add 1 lb. of spawn and mix.
Finished block is just under 6 lbs
