It's apparently illegal to collect rainwater here in NYC. Kinda ridiculous. I'm assuming it was a law passed during the West Nile virus mosquito scare, risk of standing water going stagnant and all. I'd love to hear anyone's experience with using distilled water. It's as close to RO as I can get right now. Our tap here comes out between 40 and 75ppm I'm just not keen on adding any chlorinated water to my coco with active microbials.

The problem with the Canna line is only the excessive price of the Booster and Rhizotonic, 250ml at 30 euros with a dosage of 20-40ml for 10 liters of water, which means that with the minimum dosage you make just over 100 liters of solution, it's absolutely too expensive. I have been using this line for more than 15 years, but I have obviously also experimented with other brands, the best result I obtained was using A+B canna with Aptus boosters, which among other things, has the most concentrated booster, 1.5ml x 10 liters of water, 100ml for 30 euros, definitely more reasonable and I have not found any difference in yield between the 2 products (indeed, perhaps Aptus is almost better) Then, Aptus has both the single P-boost, extremely useful for the first 3 weeks of flowering, and the single K-boost giving the possibility of administering with much more precision the individual nutrients that the plant needs in the various phases. Canna has excellent products but by experimenting and mixing with Aptus I managed to get the same, if not better results while spending considerably less, precisely because of those 2 additives. Try to do a test with the products of the Aptus line, you will not regret it. (with is he using so low EC in coco? those are Hydroponic levels, with coco u can go up till 2.0/2.3 in the third week of flowering without co2, with co2 even more!)

His theory of how he believes the plant is getting oxygen is actually completely wrong with flood and drain. Don't get me wrong his water may be oxygenated but that's not how they are really getting oxygen. In a flood and drain system you are relying on the influx of the water pushing old stagnant air out of the pot as the water volume increases. When the drain occurs all that water leaving and drying up pulls the fresh oxygen into the medium and oxygenating the root zone. This is how nature works with high and low tides...( even your creeks rivers and lakes go through a tide) when high tide comes it is just like the flood of the table when it is low tide that is the drain of the table. Basically 1 giant slow breathing lung.

I've rewatched this episode countless times now; are you planning on making more podcasts (or content) surrounding (Canna) Coco Coir growing combined with Autoflower setup? It's like using a score multiplier, because it overall makes it harder to manage. Coco doesn't give a lot of reaction time & Autoflowers can get decimated with one mistake, fast. I wonder if you could find someone/some people experienced in this intersection of knowledge. I am struggling to find information like that on KZitem (with recent practices applied) Amazing episode, most valuable podcast in the space well done!

Here's the thing, The most important factor to having healthy high brix plants is to make sure you are building a strong microbial/fungal root zone, this will take care of most of the problems. Nutrients are important but not nearly as important as what i mentioned. And coir is in a sense a "blank slate" But that's only because the nutrients are locked up in the coir, how to you take care of that? Have a healthy root zone, the fungus will break down the coir and release all the stored nutrients like phosphorus and potassium. and many micro nutrients. You will realize that you don't need to add to much nutrients and the plant will tell you what it needs. Coco is the BEST to grow in hands down, its the best of both worlds.

Here’s the dummie’s way to treat coco bricks: 3 bricks, 5 gallons water into a “Rubbermaid”. Let sit overnight. Transfer to a bigger “maid” with holes in the bottom. Let drain. Return to original pot, add 2-3 more gallons water with 30 mils of calmag. Repeat process. Then let the draining tub sit outside through at least one thorough rain (or 3-5 more gallons water). Hey I wanted to ask when growing in coco do you think it would make a huge difference raising the ph from a range of 5.6 to 5.9 from veg to flower at a range of 5.8 to 6.3 so lower levels of n can be absorbed to let more p and k be available?
@Cons_Piracy_Theorist

Ok so about to run the same exact set up but with GrowAce’s no AirCubes. So still flood to drain rez system. Here’s where I get lost…so during the week after you’ve already mixed up that week’s nutes and are doing your flood and drains. Throughout the week as the water level goes down do you just continue to top off your ‘rez’ with RO water and then at the end of the week you empty it all out and mix the new batch of nutes for that week?
