Favorite flowering tree here in NY state, I visit the ones I know of every early April with great anticipation and joy.

I planted one the spring of 2023. It got black spot and I continued to remove and pick all fallen leaves. Hopefully this spring I will get a spectacular show. There are many buds.

I just purchased a black tulip magnolia and I’m in zone 9b. Can I put this in north facing corner of my home ? I’m afraid the sun might be to hot

Which deciduous magnolia would you put in your front yard as a specimen? zone 6b facing south, plenty of room. I would like a broad spreading habitat

How do you propagate the Royal star Magnolia, I’ve been looking online everywhere and there really isn’t a video on specifically this plant? Is it too late to do a cutting this late? I’m in zone 6a, I’m planning on keeping it indoors and use plant lights for sun until it’s ready to plant.

I live in Toronto, Canada zone 6 and just bought a 5 ft tall magnolia. I am planting this in a container though as I live in an apartment - do I need extra care when overwintering it? Any tips/advice would be appreciated.

Don't know what star magnolia I have but Im not going to put it next to the foundation of the house. Happy to hear that I will be able to maintain the height of the tree very easily.

So...it's okay to cut the thing way back after it blooms? Also, do you need to dead-head any blooms that are looking brown?
@JimPutnam

It doesn't need to be dead headed. This is the time to cut it back, if it needs it.

Now is the time to do it. You can follow my background propagation series. Same type of cuttings I take on other things.

Ha thanks, I am in southern hem, (NZ) so will wait 6 months. The 30 foot magnolia next door is just about to start flowering in the next 3-4 weeks.
