Hopefully they will start flowering in a few weeks. I think my plants flower around 1 and half to 2 months. If they don't flower it could be due to too much nitrogen but I think it's not time yet.

Question: I have talked to u before and u told me that u would help me with any questions… I started researching how to make fertilizer out of yeast… this is my first day… I have been growing some melons but not water melons and I got really angry today because I was trying to make bread and my yeast was expired so I looked it up online and I found out u can use expired yeast as fertilizer… I have not tried this out on any of of plants yet… do you know if this works?

HEY Racheal!!!! Do I need to go get a lottery ticket? Guess what I made yesterday? Fertilizer using yeast!!!!!! It will be ready in 3 days. WARNING: It's going to be stank. I have a video called How to Make Fertilizer Bear Brown. You will take garden weeds and place them in a bucket and put your yeast in the bucket, and put water in it. Let it sit out for 3 days. Stir it. I just used beer for the yeast, but I used the packet once. I learned this from an older gardener her plants love it, mine too. The yeast pulls out the nutrients from the weeds.

HEY Richard!!! Thanks, brother. I appreciate it. I'm sorry to hear that. These animals are something. Honestly, I have never planted at this time, but I think it can be done if you put them in the ground now. I'm thinking because july and August are hot. September is mild and hot. I would go to buy starts, though. I would not depend on seed this late, but you can try to see if it works in your location so you will know if this happens next time. Yesterday a vole went in my raised bed with 2 melon plants that are looking great. I set traps again. I'm planting melons now as well, just to see. I planted seeds weeks ago for backups because of these pest. So I'm doing the same thing. Just get them in as soon as possible.

Why are my watermelons forming a black spot?!?😢
@GrowSomethingTasty
3 ай бұрын
HEY, Chrisby!!!! That is black end rot. That is a sign of a lack of calcium in the soil, or there is calcium in the soil, which is caused by inconsistent watering. If it is inconsistent watering, the plant can't uptake calcium because it's being locked up. But the bottom line is calcium. Once the spot is on the melon, it's no good, so prune it off. Sorry, I get that every now and then.

@@GrowSomethingTasty Thank you so much! We had voles last year, but I think my husband has successfully eliminated them all. We also have a woodchuck, an opossum and the occasional raccoon in our city yard. There are no windows on the end of the house where we want to grow melons, so I may need to find a trail cam to see what is out there. I don't mind sharing, but they took all but one! I just finished planting the last of my seeds for the garden. It has been a tough spring and I'm so behind! We are going to grow more watermelons than last year and I appreciate your video on how to prune them. My question is How many vines does a seed typically make? I am growing the melons in 25 gallon grow bags and thought 2 per bag would work, but how few or how many might those two plants produce if I prune them to 1 fruit per vine? I may decide to add a couple more bags if it is only one melon per plant. We love watermelon and homegrown far outshine those from the store! Your garden is a beauty and I think you must be the Watermelon King! Thank you again.
