I realize it’s been a while since you made these videos, but I would like to thank you. I have watched (and continue to do so) them multiple times. A few things I knew but nobody taught me how to quilt so I have had to learn many things the hard way 😍

Thank you so much for these videos. I am surprised at how many things I figured out on my own (because nobody in my area was hand-quilting or had ever done so), but I have learned several new techniques in these videos and will be applying them. I am also sharing them with a friend in France who hand-quilts! I enjoy hand-quilting because of the meditative quality. I own 2 quilting frames and I am currently working on a quilt that will be a wedding gift for my husband's niece (and yes, she is quilt-worthy).

Hello Esther from France. I started hand quilting on my lap last year. Since making & using a frame I struggled until I watched your videos. You are a fabulous teacher. My progress is slow but you have most certainly sent me in the right direction - I’ll be ordering the thumb (Ted’s) thimble to help with my second direction. Bless you & thanks

I'm glad you found Esther's videos to help you. She would have loved that. If you want to take a class some time, Alexia rosfelder from bluestar quilting is a student of Esther's that teaches in France.

I’ve been quilting for 40 years as I I age pulling the needle through becomes more difficult. Watching you with the needle puller encouraged me to try this. It is fantastic I think I I can quilt into my 80’s for sure now thank you! I also tried quilting with the spoon to save my under side finger I quickly changed to using a tiny butter pat from my Limoges china dishes it doesn’t scratch my needles and works well whilst I save up for a needle slide. Yes porcelain is far better. The needle will wear through the glase over time though.

I would love to see a video showing how close to quilt to the edge so when you square your quilt the stitches do not get cut off.

Is one layer of wool batting really warm enough? I live in northern Virginia, in the mountains. And our furnace went out 5 years ago. If it is 19°F or less outside, it will be 40°F inside. We do have space heaters but you can only get them too hot before overloading the electrical system. We should have a new one next winter.

The wool batting we have is really warm, any more than that and it gets almost impossible to quilt. When it's cold you might want to use layers. I remember I used to sleep under 3 quilts.

Should the stitches on the back be the same length as on the front? The ones on the back tend to be so small for me I don't trust them.

What is that thing on your hand? Does it pull the needle or something? I've never seen that contraption before.
@millersquilting
8 ай бұрын
Yes it's a needle puller. It makes it much easier to pull out a fully loaded needle without using a tool that you'd damage the quilt by accident.
