Long filler cigars smoke cooler and milder, and burn better. And it is difficult to build, maintain, and adjust a machine to roll a perfect long filler cigar. Believe me, it has been tried. Short filler cigars or chopped filler cigars can be rolled by machine.

I drive by the drying sheds all the time. It's very labour-intensive, but it has been like this for nearly 500 years, so enjoy! Remember: Pipes and Cigars are "tasted". You do NOT inhale them. Even good RYO cigarettes are not necessarily inhaled as much as the commercial cartons. After all, people do not jones for a cigar or a pipe. It's a happy pastime. Cigarettes has been so over processed, that they are quite addictive.

This roller is loving the break...time to go slow motion, enjoy his cigar and not too much worry about his daily quota to make his daily wage. I can bet they are not working for piecemeal or commission. Like a comment below, too expensive for what the company paid for the leaf and wages for the roller. Middlemen and owners get a huge chunk, and the US seller gets another chunk. Total cost of making the cigar as probably $1, and sold at the store for $16-$20.

We can't all look at everything through the eyes of a USA / UK / European / Australian / Etc... I 100% got the vibe these people loved their work and were proud of the product they craft. I know they make significantly more than the average Joe in the DR... All businesses have supply chains, and all have competition at every stage of that chain. If we the end consumer are happy to pay $16-20 per stick, and everyone can make their piece along the way I see nothing wrong with that. All the best - Paul

These are highly skilled people who have been trained for many years before being allowed to roll Davidoff cigars. But even outside of Davidoff, we have witnessed great care and attention to detail in making these fine premium cigars. It's a matter of pride and respect. Cheers Paul

What ever happened to the idea of your cigar being rolled on the thigh of a beautiful Cuban lady??? 🤷♂️

I'm 100% sure that rolling a cigar on a thigh wasn't even a thing. You'll get nicotine poisoning really quickly.
