Awesome video, and it covers all bases! I'm not sure why it's different, but over this side of the world (Australia) most of the plasterboard manufacturers (Gyprock, G-Tek etc.) recommend a 3 coat system... the first two coats are a powdered base coat (hot mud), followed by a regular compound/mud for the finishing coat. I'm sure there's alot of people that just use regular mud for all 2/3 coats... I'm not going to lie - for hot mud scenarios I *love* FibaFuse on non-corner joints...

I love Fiba Fuse for butt joints mostly. I'm a paper tape guy but Fiba Fuse is a worthy product. I really like the porosity, and how the mud really gets through and sets. Use it a lot here in the States for my projects.

You only use a 250’ roll when you’re running a gun instead of 500’ due to weight? Try running a Bazooka all day with heavy weight taping mud….50lbs a box, now that’s a workout..lol

Uhaaaa, where were you 5 years ago when I bought a short sale house and hired & fired 3 drywall contractors? I ended up doing it myself and learning as as did a pentagon breakfast nook. I ended up doing rounded corners. I just couldn’t seem to get a straight corner. The finish job looks good.

So what do you recommend on 135° walls? As far as tape and such. Some refer to these walls as 45° but this is simply just not true. To clarify... You have a short 90° wall, a wall that slopes 135° from the vertical wall or 45° from the floor, and finally the ceiling 135° off the sloping wall. This would often be seen in the 2nd story of a Gothic style house where the roof often runs a 12/12 pitch. Dormers may also be present in this setting. I am looking for a good resolution on the horizontal joints specifically.

They have those 3.5 inch inside corner tools at Home Depot. I take a dremel tool and cut 1 inch off each side. 2 inch tape equals 1 inch each side of the angle and about 2.5 inch of angle tool on each side of the angle. The way I hand tape angles I have my pan full of mud and scoop the inside angle of my pan with the angle tool and have a nice neat blob of mud on it. Puts on a nice fast even amount of mud on both sides and I wipe with a 3 inch knife.

Thanks for the instructions. Have a corner where the drywall has separated over an inch. (50 year old house)I've tried filling it with caulking yet it still cracks within a year or so. Got my tape. Have plus 3 . Is that OK to use? What is the proper fill used to fill in an inch void? Drywall mud or?
@DrywallShorty
2 жыл бұрын
I would fill the void with Easy Sand first then tape with USG All Purpose and paper tape. You can coat the tape after it dries with Plus 3

Exactly the kind of comment that makes women steer clear of the trades. If you're rehabbing to rent or flip, can you really imagine how uncomfortable a woman would be working for you with comments like that? And I'm not even a feminist (just an investor and remodeler). Do better.
