Happy Father's Month Elder Meason! Lord Jesus, who in the world can we keep up with the Masons farm, for we are so far behind, with our gardening, when they have been living out for over four years and we have been in our home in the city for five to six years, and we are now way near what they have accomplished, and we so much need country living, so much for being single, God helps us.

I am on year 4! Lol. Switched from seed to the starts that look like little dried onions that Im forgetting the name of right now. Lol. If this doesnt work I might try starts next time.... my current curiosity is what happens to short day onions if you plant them in a long day area? Lol. These are doing much better right now, but I cant tell if they are bulbing up yet, and they dont get full sun all day, so questioning if they wont work since they get afternoon shade where they are.

Barbara, when you replace the onion beds with new beds, make sure that you replace them with tall beds, maybe 31 inches high. This way you won’t have to bend over nearly as much. Let’s face it, we’re all aging and it’s better to plan for that as best we can. Love your content ❤

Hi Barb I live in NE Tennessee zone 7b also. I have 100 candy sweet onions and another 50 red onions all planted in a8x4 foot bed. I started the onions from seed in 4”x4” pots. Planted the slips march 11th. I just pulled the slips apart and put them in the raised bed. The onions are bulbing right now, so I’m going to give them another week or so. I always purchased sets or slips before this year but I gotta say starting from seeds is so much cheaper and is looking to be highly successful. ❤

@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead they are a bunching onion that produce the bulbs on the top when they are almost ready to harvest. Then the green part breaks/bends and the bulbs plant to start the cycle again. So if left alone they will continue to grow and move. I hope that makes since. I’m going to take my bulbs off the top and plant them in a dedicated spot this fall.

I'd def. be interested in your Sriracha recipe. I love Huy Fong but I hear they are limiting production again (drought in Mexico where their supplier is) BUT, they have some weird ingredients I don't recognize & am willing to switch. I do know their peppers are red ripe jalapeños (their last shortage was due to a confict with their sole supplier, Underwood Farms). It seems like the "Sriracha pepper" seedlings might be simply jalapeños, but if they are on sale, go for it! 🌶🌶
