How To Harvest Water Lily Nuts In Farm - Most Modern Agriculture In The World
Euryale ferox, commonly known as prickly water lily, makhana or Gorgon tree, is a species of water lily found in southern and eastern Asia. Edible seeds, called fox seeds or makhana when dried, are eaten in Asia.
It grows in water, producing bright purple flowers. The leaves are large, rounded and pinnate, usually over a meter (3 feet) long, with a studded petiole in the middle of the underside. The underside of the leaves is burgundy, while the upper side is green. The leaves have a fluffy texture, although the stems, flowers and leaves floating on the surface are covered with sharp thorns. Other leaves are flooded. In India, Euryale often grows in ponds and wetlands.
