Amazing advice 🤯 I have been a 1 hander all my life and didn't know about the left hand pushing down. Love how you bring your own game changing wisdom. Would love it you did a forehand one like this as you explain it so well an in a simple way that makes sense to me. No doubt there will be something new to be learned even on the forehand stroke when you explain it.

For me, the similarity between the OHBH and a golf swing is MASSIVE. You have to keep your chest closed / head down and resist the urge to look up to see where the ball / shot is going. You ultimately have to let the torque / momentum of your swing be what opens your chest / lifts your head. If you do it consciously, you're going to start missing / shanking the ball. Great lesson, Will!

you definitely pointed out the most common mistakes one handers make. I've struggled with these mistakes for many years even to this day. I look forward to following these tips you've explained.

Will, again, I have been playing for many years and have watched many training videos over the years. I can say for certain, your videos are the best!! The reason is you take the time to explain slowly and step by step how you hit the shots. The way you hit your one-handed backhand is definitely a thing of beauty. In addition, your videos compared to other training videos are extremely useful and are helping so many of us players become the best players we can and definitely better than we ever could before. Congratulations and Thank You for all you have done and do!!!

hi :) if you don't want to open your chest ... "at all" think about your front shoulder only. keep your shoulders ( both) in line to the target ( whatever lifting or slicing) give the best gain of accuracy. the delicious feeling that you can't miss :)) and what you are doing really good ( did you mentionned it?) is to keep the arm stiffed from the start as much as you can and then fully stiffed to the end of the swing. main spring is the back ( shoulder) and then maybe or later the little one : the elbow :)

I too am working hard on my one handed backhand. I am able to comfortably execute while practising on the wall, but in the actual game, timely unit turn is not happening and I end up slicing because I am never in the position to execute the backhand shot. In the Club, when we play, always doubles, I don't experiment, risk or try the back hand shot, so as to not lose the point....just not to annoy my partner. I think I must go ahead and try and not bother about losing points. Overall, I am thoroughly enjoying the one hand back hand practice. It feels so good when you get it almost right, even on the wall.

Awesome video. I started with two hands but quickly dropped that because it felt confining. The one hander just felt freer and allowed me to really rip balls instead of just pushing it back. I also think it's less stressful on your lower back. From the power position, I just let the racket fall to have some gravity assist but I will try your left hand pushing down method and see if it makes a difference. Thanks.

Especially if I'm jammed I end up hitting a sort of open stance 1h BH. I switched a few months ago not b/c I think it's better but because it's more fun to nail a 1h-BH. Hopefully in a year or two I'll feel as comfortable w/ it as my prior strokes.

I use the left hand to guide the racket down and hold on for a split second as I start forward. This allows the butt of the racket to face the side fence and provides a sling shot move as the racket gains acceleration to meet the ball. Has to be timed properly. I do this also on my slice back hand.
