Good point I found that out makes a lot of difference to lift the front end up on the oil change

Yeah, you can get a surprising amount of additional oil out.

Yes, the engine and transmission share the same oil. The gear oil being changed is for the front differential and rear final drive, which run in 80w or 75W-90 rated GL-5.

Not really a fan of gauze type filters for off road, but it is one of those things where reasonable minds can differ.

They are just Craftsman from Sears. IMHO not as nice as Snap-On, but a huge step up from the really cheap ones. They seem to be reasonably accurate.

No, the axles take GL-5 rated gear oil in 80W or 75W90.

Cyclespeed Tours Hopefully that's all they did. Those buggers can eat insulation off wires.

I only realized because a chunk of foam had been eaten out of the seat. When I took the seat off I found a family of small ones all over, and the mother living in the airbox with more. Some wires has been nibbled, but nothing cut. I had the same problem with a Porsche Cayman, and there they did eat through some wires - expensive. Great quad though, mine is almost 10 years old and hasn't missed a beat.

I'm a little confused the Honda rincon doesn't need gear box oil change or the motor oil change is for both

How much oil? Book says 2.9 litres, I put 3 in and still low on dip stick
@JeffinTD

Turbine2k8 Yeah that is what the book says for filter change, but if you raise the front of the quad and/or let it drain for a long time you can get more out. Be sure when you check the oil that you let it idle several minutes (no throttle) and let it sit 10 minutes or so. Otherwise you won't get an accurate reading.

@@JeffinTD My 2006 says 3.1 qt but by lifting front end and draining overnight, I was able to add 3.5 qt back in
