English grammar used to be taught though sentence diagramming. I would like to see poetry analyzed in this way. Are there books, or tests and quizzes that analyze many poems in this way? I need to study enough examples to give me confidence in my ability to do the same. At this point, I need the lines, colors, highlighted letters, etc. (Tue Dec 27, 2022)

How to identify or understand stressed or un stressed syllabus. Is it through dictionary?
@sirfaulkinator
3 жыл бұрын
Riya, this may help. When you say the word outloud, the syllable you speak "louder", with more power, emphasis the most, is the stressed syllable. The one you say "quieter", with less power and emphasis is the unstressed. A dictionary will tell you how many syllables are in a word, but will not tell you the stress vs unstressed. This example is good. Say these outloud and overstress how you say the capitalized sections. the ACcent is ON the wrong SYLLable. the acCENT is on THE wrong sylLAble. Which one sounds more natural? The first one.

You said trochaic is stressed first but then you answered the first practice with iambic? I am so lost lonely lone is stressed why would you say iambic
@user-uu6fu9cw7n

Hello, I am Sall. I am an enthusiastic beginner in the poetic language. Obviously, the first practice is in iambic. It corresponds to the pattern "unstressed syllable, followed by a stressed syllable." Lesson: "I wan/dered lone/ly as a cloud ". I=unstressed syllable , wan=stressed, dered =unstressed from the word "wandered " . Similarly from word "lonely" lone=stressed syllable and ly=unstressed syllable. The message I'm trying to convey is that, if you look at the syllable of all the words in the line, it actually corresponde to the iambic form of rhythm(unstressed followed by stressed syllable )
