Nice. My backhand is so garbage I started working on a left handed forehand instead

I use both left hand and 2handed backhand. Im not quite ambidextrous but the more i use my left hand, the better i get. Its to a point now where i can even feel confident blocking and attacking at the kitchen, tho its not as good as might rh…yet lol. Great vid! Thanks!

Excellent video and lots of great information. Playing pickleball three months now and the back hand is a problem among other things. However, these tips and drills will be something I will give time to. Well done.

Personally I like to do it when a ball is coming straight for my shoulder and I’m flailing like an idiot

I'm really used to doing this from my tennis background - but for beginners I advice using your left hand to help you switch grips. It will be really hard in the beginning to do it solely with your playing hand.

Like other racket or paddle sports, you only grip the handle tightly before hitting the ball. Most of time, you loosely holding it and it’s easy to change the gripping, until it’s becoming a natural way. Just be relax, take a breath before hitting the ball😊 The most important thing is to make sure you turn your body, swing back your arm, your griping will be changed unnoticeably.

I was told the "hand shake" grip is for the eastern grip. The continental grip is the "holding a hammer" grip
@Jondaliner

There is an Eastern forehand grip and an Eastern backhand grip. The handshake one you are talking about is just for the forehand. The eastern backhand is just moving to the left one more side from the continental grip. I hope this helps!

Coming from tennis you can hit your backhand with a slightly bent arm as long as you finish with a straight arm

Ya know how so many times you're partnered with someone who just always pops the ball up almost every time they hit the ball? Is that a wrist thing? I can't even imitate this action, but would like to offer a solution or technique to help correct players like this that I'm partnered with... any ideas?
@EnhancePickleball

when you react to drives, keep your wrist firm and block the ball down towards your opponent's feet. Their wrist is likely too loose when the ball hits their paddle

I started playing pickleball in February. After suffering a Baker's cyst behind my knee that erupted from 50 years of tennis, I began as a beginner and quickly advanced to intermediate. Now I'm an advanced player, pushing the expert envelope. I've been using my western grip on my backhand and forehand until I get to the kitchen, where I slightly alter my grip. By the way, I have a blistering backhand using my western grip😉
