Timing is one of the biggest issues hindering your swim progress.
Making all the skills gel and work together can be a real challenge since many drills only isolate one specific technique at a time.
Catch N Roll helps you make that connection between how to catch and when to rotate your body so that they work together to send you forward.
You don't need super strength to be a great swimming. But you do need super timing.
- pull back too early and you lose your streamline and balance, create excess drag in the process
- pull back to late and you end up swimming one arm at a time, often flat, creating extra drag and losing the impact of your body drive
This drill is awkward at first - not denying that. But you'll only need to do a few lengths to make that connection between catching and rolling and then try to bring that into your normal stroke.
Before attempting this drill, be sure to have practiced:
- Streamline Drill,
- Switch Drill,
- Flat Catch, and
- Mini Catch Drill
