Very interesting. When I changed my diet after a mild heart attack, my annual eye exams continuously showed improvement requiring a new script. Kiddingly, I told my ophthalmologist that it must be the carrots, and he said it was more likely the spinach. Thanks for this great information!

I got freaked out when you were cleaning your eyes. Generally, because I have mutated mucous membranes I tend to brush my teeth carefully, but enjoyably, avoiding another oral cancer scare. It took me a while to get used to it. Using that device with the brush on the end on your eye reminded me of teeth-brushing, so I just want to say I think you definitely need to only clean your eye slowly, and enjoyably if possible. That's my theory for not accidentally hurting myself further anyhow. Also, more nutritional science will be much appreciated in future, thanks Dr. Allen!

I like his idea of the smoothies. I'm a care giver for my 93 y.o. mom. I make her a smoothie everyday. My biggest concern was her getting and occasional UTI from the uncooked vegetables, and someone at her age this can quickly turn into a very serious illness. My naturopathic Dr says to make sure to clean all fruits or vegetables before eating. He even recommended when coming in from the grocery to put them all in a plastic bucket or clean kitchen sink - including bananas, onions, and fill with water and add a tablespoon of chlorox and let them sit for 30", then rinse very very well, before you bring all these bugs in your house. He says, go look at the grocery of how many people are handling the food before they buy it. Also all these veggies could have eColi, which lives in the soil - even though they are "organic" - and need to wash them well. The naturopath also states, Dont eat any raw fruit /vegetables /salads, etc., from restaurants. No telling if, or how well, they were washed, or who has been handling them. He states, if you go to Asia - you'll rarely find any raw vegetables to eat, due to the high rate of disease there - everything is cooked well. I have avoided much of this by buying FROZEN vegetables and fruit. They have all been rinsed and blanched before freezing. I make the smoothie with frozen spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, other greens; mango, pineapple, berry mix. Buy the chopped vegetables, which are easier to manage. Every couple of days I fill the smoothie containers with veggies and fruit, and put them back in the freezer, then put one in the fridge overnight to thaw. In the morning I add Almond Milk, water, yogurt, protein power, flax or chia seeds. I also get some green powders from Bulk Supplements - the green spirulinas and beet powders, and add some of that. I'm careful not adding too much, to not overwhelm her system. Often I make her a chocolate smoothie with chocolate protein powder and peanut butter, and also with cauliflower and broccoli and fruit -blueberries or pineapple - it's amazing, it tastes like a chocolate smoothie - you cant taste the vegetables. I hope this helps everyone. It's very easy to make, and I think easiest way to assure me and mama are getting vegetables and nutrients everyday.

My eyes have been hurting for last 7 months. At one point they were throbbing and felt really bruised. I have had an overnight huge increase in floaters, like a storm. No info on anterior floaters online. I know they're not vitreous floaters bc optometrist and dr. looked at them. It seems to just be the front half of my eyes, also when they hurt, they become very bloodshot and floaters become more pronounced. My sinuses right behind my nose hurts or feels inflamed in correlation to the eye pain. No mucus, no infection. Optometrist and Dr. Thought I was healthy, didn't see anything wrong with me. On the days I saw the Dr's, my eyes felt really good though. I've been putting off seeing the ophthalmologist bc I feel like he will not see anything wrong.

Frequent breaks from your desk/work. Getting good movement and looking into the distance through a window or going for a walk is a good habit. For some people at high risk of eye diseases I have talked about blue light filtering glasses as a possible defense (evidence is mixed at this time). Monitoring for dry eye/MGD signs and symptoms are also important as many people don't blink enough when on digital devices.

Basically I get white blotches, like what ya get from having an aura migraine....but perminately.... With a mix of blur. I'll close my right eye, and that's what I see...it makes it hard to read....and I wear glasses.... This has been going on for a few months now. Though, I'll admit, I do need new glasses...mainly cause my current are really old. I see fine with my right eye in them though.

Doctor, is there any kind of imaging used in the eye to see the possible cause of eye discomfort? I’m 21 years old and my post COVID infection eyes so extremely dry now. My eye dilation exam looks unremarkable, but is there imaging I could request that would be even better?
@Akira-jd2zr
2 жыл бұрын
Dilation would do nothing to check for eye discomfort related to dry eyes. Some other types of testing could reveal severe dry eyes. For example, your doctor may "stain" your eyes with a certain eye drop and look at your cornea with the microscope to check for damage to your cornea. Also, other tests (Schirmer's strips) will reveal if you produce enough tears.
