How do you have less than 1k subscribers?!! New sub here. Cannot thank you enough for taking the time to make this video. For the past year, I have been using Adobe Audition to clean up all my audio before sending it over to OBS. It is soooo cumbersome and I could never get it right. Plus I couldn't monitor in real time because of the latency issue. Ditching Audition and fixing my audio directly in OBS in a GAME CHANGER for me and saves so much time. Thank you!!!!!

This was so awesome! Thank you. I had "toyed" with OBS but never really dug into it until I followed along with this tutorial. With a few minor adjustments for my voice (de-essing at around 10k e.g.) I now have the best sound I've ever had. For my purposes this is an EQ-APO killer. I found that to be somewhat "inconsistent" when it comes to managing the gain levels. Now that OBS has the audio monitoring plugin I can route the audio to anything with virtual cables but without VoiceMeeter (my needs are not very complex)!

Would be interested to know if there is any type of performance impact from using these plugins. Also VST's in DAWs normally have a tendency to crash 'sometimes', would that ever happen whilst using them in OBS? trying to decide whether I want to make the switch to EQing in OBS instead of post production.
@AtomicOverdrive

The plugins I shown are solid and frequently updated. As far as pre and post production. For my youtube videos I use these plugins in OBS, but when I pull the file over into Resolve Studio, I add on a few iZotope RX8 plugins to clean up a little more noise. As far as stability. I have never had any of these plugins crash on me.

Hey Joe, just wanted to thank you for putting this video together. I originally came across your video from last year on your Joe's Cave channel and found your tutorial to be extremely useful, far better than anything else I came across. You provide an excellent starting point and made it easy for me to make the slight modifications necessary to get my desired result so thank you for that. One thing I'd like to point out is I've disabled Wider in the filter chain because it adds a noticeable amount of artifacts. Even if I lower the percentage down to 5%, I can still hear unpleasant noises being introduced. Don't know if anyone else will run into this issue so I wanted to throw it out there because even without Wider, you can still get a broadcast sound. Also, while I'm at it, do you happen to know why the sound I hear while monitoring my microphone in OBS sounds cleaner than after I've made a recording and played it back?
@AtomicOverdrive
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind comments. Yea the video settings are very generic and I would like to think it serves more as a starting point for creators and streamers to build upon. As far as the sound sounding different, check and make sure your recording the correct track in OBS and that your listening to the correct track. By default OBS assigns every sound device to use all 6 channels and records to all 6 channels. What I do is assign assign them to their own channel individually. Now the ones I want to stream, I assign them all to Track 1. Hopefully this helps.

@AtomicOverdrive
3 жыл бұрын
The RNNoise reduction does add some static to the background. The NVidia one sounds better, at least it does when it works correctly. Setting the expander up as shown in the video will help mask the static from the RNNoise filter. The only other solution would be to move 50 miles into the country side, turn off everything in your house and shoot your neighbors dog so you can have complete silence. Sadly.. LOL
