Brilliant, Jamie. This lesson couldn't be better timed for me. I'm sick of sounding like pentatonic Pete.!

Fabulous concise lesson for what to use for soloing. This is a new pentatonic scale idea for me thats simple and easy to get under your fingers. Love your motifs and how you pivot them. Such a cool and brilliant idea. I thought other musicians were changing the key when they did something similar sounding to this. Many thanks to you, Jamie. Can’t wait to try this when i get back home. 😅❤

Compliments on your playing with Joan Armatrading. Just caught it on BBC 2. One of my favourite musicians and song writer. She plays a mean guitar. Loved your sax and flute solos.

This was great thanks Jamie! I think I’ve intuitively been doing this a bit since learning your magic “find the key” in the home note trick in that delightful earlier video with your daughter. Lately I’ve been experimenting while I’ve been busking with filling in gaps on songs I play as practice towards creating solos but in a very small way but I’m still very much in beginner mode and struggling with theory!

Missed this one! So I recently have been listening to the band Morphine from the 90's and was wondering if you would do one of their bari solos for a video at some point?

Great tips 👍. Too many solos lack a melodic or rhythmic relationship with the song itself and could be dumped into any old song with the same chords.

Thanks Jamie - you have total tone mastery with now the all new, sparkling and shiny - total solo discouragement 🥴😒😏! But seriously, tell me, were you adding a smattering of "growl" to your playing to get that sound ?

Thank you for your many great videos. To me the solo as you play it is a little monotonous. Is that because off the pentatonic scale that I never have though about when having a solo? (I’m a swing/bop player). I would like to make a solo when the melody is shining through.

Question :me and my friend play the saxophone and she tell me to just play then play notes on top of the flow of air, but i always play note one by one with each blow of air, any ideas and i noticed you took breaths in between of the pentatonic is that something that is recommended.
@GetYourSaxTogether

I don't really know what you mean if I'm honest? You don't usually use one puff of air per note if that's what you mean.
