So enjoyed this. I find Most of the videos of this topic are chaotic. Yours is not. It is great. When I did this with my five below rug it was so much fun, and I loved to see all the surprises.

Thank you Kathy, for showing us this type of rug. I have had these rugs and never dreamed of taking them apart.. Now I am going to have to find one.. Thank you.

You’re so welcome, Teresa! Be sure that’s it’s a “jeweled” chindi rug. You can usually tell by examining it carefully if the label doesn’t specify. You’ll see shiny fabrics as opposed to t-shirt fabric. Happy hunting, and thank you so much for watching!! ~Kathy xo

Thank you so much, Lori! I have found the jeweled chindi rugs at Walmart as well as Grocery Outlet if you have either of those stores near you. You have to kind of inspect the strips because many are made of cotton Jersey knits instead of the prettier fabrics. Thanks for watching! ~Kathy xo

Never thought to take apart one of those rugs. Fun idea! I had one of these rugs in my bathroom as a kid and I remember when my mom finally threw it out I was so sad.

Thanks so much! Those rugs are a great way to get tons of useable fabric scraps for journals at a very reasonable price. I think the one rug will last me about 150 years, lol! Thanks so much for watching! ~Kathy xo

I'm back and forth, looking at part 1 and 2. The paper towel idea is fabulous. What glue did you use?

Thanks, it worked well. I used Distress Collage Medium. There's a link to it in the video description. :)

Do you wash it biefore pulling it apart or after? Not sure it makes any difference but could.
@AtticTreasuresEtc
Жыл бұрын
Hi Louise! I actually wait to wash it after I pull it apart just to make sure nothing is trapped, because the strips are wound very tightly. It does ravel in the washing machine and end up in a tangled mass, but it doesn’t take too long to separate the pieces after they’re dry. I use scissors to cut through the raveled fibers. For drying, I either put the mass on a sweater/shoe drying rack inside the dryer so they don’t tumble, or in a large mesh bag, but I like the rack method better. You can certainly wash it before pulling it apart, too, though. Thanks for watching! ~Kathy xo
