It may seem obvious to many but do you really know the best method to Inflate A Basketball? Do you use glycerine to lubricate the needle and do you know the correct PSI it should be inflated to?
We strongly recommend using GLYCERINE to lubricate the valve opening prior to inserting the needle adaptor. If you cannot find this oil then sewing machine oil is also a good option. Olive oil is slightly thicker but is also a good alternative but use slightly less.
What pump should you use and how do you use a pressure gauge to get the correct PSI? All of these questions will be answered in our guide to inflating a basketball.
If you do not have a pressure gauge available then you can also use the measure test to see if you have the correct ball pressure. Drop the basketball from a height of 183cm - measured to the underside of the ball. The ball should bounce within a range of 124cm to 137cm - measured to the top of the basketball. If the ball bounces above the 137cm mark then you will need to remove some air from the ball. Likewise if the ball bounces below the 124cm mark then more air should be added to the ball.
