Excellent teaching advice. I want to say I am glad to hear your comment on taking a year and a half off. I was working really hard at penciling and inking, putting in lots of required time and practice. Despite this, I became extremely frustrated with my progress or, actually, lack thereof. It seemed I had plateaued. Despondent, I took about that same amount of time off from producing art. However, as time passed, I did spend much more time really studying great artists. When I came back I was inexplicably much better. My technique is better, my understanding is better, and I am learning at a faster rate and I am even more creative than ever before! Normally, this is NOT advice I would suggest someone take, especially since time is an invaluable and ever diminishing resource, but in my case, it worked.

Enjoyed this quite a lot, not just for the skill and tips, but the sense of humour and music ;)

Oh I am glad I found your channel. Inking comics and graphic novels etc has always been one of my favorite parts of fleshing out a page.

Looks good, but I don't think I can do it. I have a shaky right hand, for some reason.... Using a pen isn't too bad but ink it real shaky. It's not just shaky with drawing but day-to-day stuff, so it's not that I'm nervous or anything.

Have you tried loosening your grip on your pencil or pen. When I’m drawing, I have always slipped into holding my pen with a death grip as I concentrated on the picture. Now, I try to concentrate on my grip.

At the risk of being 'that guy', but as a drawing artist myself i learned that turning the page (while drawing) isn't about your 'mood'. That's just a lame excuse. It all has to do with your skills you need to develop to turn your hand in any direction needed instead of the paper. Good artists don't turn pages.
