Most articles that I have read advise keeping the cpu in place when you remove the brackets, to protect the pins.

Great video. I bought a factory Corsair i7500 with the 14700k and 4080, stuffed inside a 4000d airflow. The puny 240mm AIO did "okay" even with a slight undervolt, however the first thing I did was adding the Thermalright contact frame with new Arctic MX6, instantly got about 5c cooler temps under load. Since then, I've transplanted everything into a 5000d airflow case, swapped to a 360mm AIO and did more undervolting to the 14700k and 4080. She runs smooth, stable and a heck of a lot cooler. Your videos and some other channels really helped guide me in the adventure of my build.
No mention at all about how tight to tighten the screws? If you do them up too tight you end up with memory issues etc.

Just received and installed mine. There's no markings on new revision. In manual they said just ti tight them. But I have done in old way. Marked the screws. With two fingers I thight as much I can those 4 screws, then I twisted about 90 degrees. Maybe slightly less. Haven't tested yet, but CPU is protruding the socket for a mm or two. Is it normal?
@LDWilliams
2 ай бұрын
@@juccavtr The best answer to all of that would be does it post? If it does and there are no memory errors etc, then you've done it tight enough, but not too tight. I found a £50 torque screwdriver that went down low enough. Yes, it is likely only ever going to be used a few times, but to my thinking I spent £50 to potentially save £500. That to me is a good investment.

Would definitely keep the CPU in the socket to help protect pins once it's been cleaned of previous thermal paste. I recently used one of these when I upgraded my system, I tightened my screws till they bottomed out and everything is working fine. Just make sure to check BIOS and see if all the RAM you installed is showing up.

It does, but according to some serious testing by Gamers Nexus their contact frame is not that good. An improvement over the mobo's stock LMI but not as good as the one showcased here. Too bad Arctic's otherwise wonderful AIO only works with their custom frame...

Installed the CPU contact frames in all the PCs that I assembled last year. One less worry about bending CPU out the windows after watching a video of how the original frame will bend the CPU. In terms of temperature, did noticed a two to three degrees improvements due to a "straighter" CPU surface that comes into contact with the CPU cooler.

Hello doesn’t the cpu cooler bracket hold the cpu backplate in place so you don’t have to take out the whole motherboard from the case and save you a lot of time ? I would like to know thank you !! Great video good info 👍

I wouldn't trust that. It could easily fall off if you're not holding it

People already said to put the cpu in first. That’s a good way. Haven’t seen anyone mention using tape on the backplate to keep it from falling off. Ends up being pretty helpful. I actually leave the tape on after the contact frame is on so next time I do maintenance, it’s no worry.

I just got one of those for my new that I just finished last night. They are great and would recommend. Question for you Where do you buy your full length cables from your PSU top your MB and the rest. I have been looking around, and I planned to do extentions but the cables that came with my Corsiar RMe 1200 are just gross like really bad and tight. so I figured I would get all new cables.
You're not supposed to take the cpu out, for the reason you stated; Don't want to risk bending the pins

Based on my past experiences, I only replace the thermal paste every three to four years when I am changing the AIO - which pump life span is around 4 to 5 years. My PC runs for six to eight hours daily.
