Dude, years later and your video is still the MOST USEFUL and clear instructional video for figuring out how to measure for these sinks. I have the same base and couldn’t believe they’d sell me something that has no hope of fitting a normal farmhouse sink, but lo and behold, they did. I can now cut it with confidence because I’ve seen your example…THANK YOU!!!

This video is a God-send. I can't tell you how hard it has been to find any information on installing these kind of sinks. It has been a huge point of frustration between my dad and I as we are renovating my kitchen. Even the manufacturers don't provide installation instructions, it's ridiculous.

Thanks for the very thorough video. Extremely well thought out. I'm in the process of buying/installing a farmhouse sink in new cabinets. I was wondering...for the support across the back of the sink edge: Was there any problem installing faucet to the countertop...my experience is that I never have enough space to tighten down the nut holding the faucet...I was thinking 1X4 on edge would be "strong enough" and would allow more space (although the mortising of the 2X4 looks really nice and strong).

We ended up going with Quarts it’s a pretty thick slab I believe 3/4 of an inch you don’t need plywood plywood is usually used if you’re using granite before you start call a countertop company and ask him the specific questions

In this video I plan on installing granite that is more than 3 cm thick if you are planning on installing quartz stone or granite that is less then 3 cm thick you will need to add plywood on the top of the cabinets for support underneath the countertop this will make it so your Undermount kitchen sink will have to be one Eighth of an inch higher than seen in the video so take into account for the support underneath the countertops I hope this makes sense
@KooperSalmo
3 жыл бұрын
If you're installing butcher block or laminate you can install your Undermount sink flush with the top of the cabinets but always remember support is needed on top of the cabinets for granite quartz stone that is not very thick if you're not worried about spending that extra Money on extra thick countertops you will have no worries the thicker the stronger they will be

Great info and very true. I have the 36” Ruvati btw. I was waiting to see if there was another way to secure it but like you pointed out it’s all from the three points on contact and then the weight of the stone. A quick tip on the stainless steel: Barkeepers Friend is a cleanser that will shine the stainless and get rid of any rust marks or hard water marks as well. Use it inside and out.

You're video has been a huge help and is also raised my question. I to am looking at the Ruvati apron sink but have questioned the "required" cabinet dimensions. For example, according to Ruvati, you're 33" requires a minimum of 36" cabinet yet yours was only 34 1/2". I'm wanting to get the 36" but it says it requires 39" on the cabinet when I only have 38". After watching your video it makes me think that it will still fit and I don't need to downsize to the 33". Any chance you can clarify why the company's install dimensions are incorrect and you were able to fit it in a smaller cabinet?
@KooperSalmo
2 жыл бұрын
I can’t remember I made the video like a year ago but if the sink measures smaller then the inside cabinet I would say it can be done
@mrmarkfive
2 жыл бұрын
His cabinet is actually 36” just inside dimensions are 34 1/2. Unless you have custom cabinets I doubt you have a 38” cabinet. Maybe your interior measurements are 38” but they measure cabinets face frame to face frame so more than likely you have a 39” cabinet so you should be ok.

We just had a similar sink installed but the contractor who installed it made it to where the lip of the sink sits about 1-2mm higher than the top of the cabinets. We plan on having a granite counter installed over the cabinets and lip of the sink. Will that 1-2mm matter?
