Just thinking out loud. When you cut the fuel straw to length you should have measured the depth and then subtracted 1/8" not added 1/8". Adding 1/8" will force the straw into the floor of the fuel tank and limit the volume of fuel that the pump can actually draw out. That could explain why the pump seems louder than it should be and why you are dropping 6 psi when going 3/4 throttle, because the pump is starved for fuel. Also, I would set the fuel tank flat on the floor so that the weight of the fuel in the tank while measuring the depth does not "flex" the tank out being that the tank is plastic. That way when your tank is almost empty the tank will not retract from the lack of fuel weight and come in contact with the bottom of the straw, which again, will limit the amount of fuel that the pump can draw out. Otherwise, great in depth video!

Was thinking the same thing. Should have been 12 1/8" from the bottom of the straw indexed to the bottom of mounting flange on the fitting.

As a newbie, my only wish was a little more details on how you found the key on only fuse. He man you wanna get a test light it will make it super easy! Go into the fuse box and poke all the fuses on the little silver dots until you find one that doesn’t light up , then turn key on and poke same one , if it lights up it’s a “key on” only powder ! The bracket mount is super easy and you’ll see the bolt hole no problem trust me ! You got this! & thanks for watching!

To anyone watching this video for the first time wanting to do a FASS System and thinking “thats not so bad”. For the most part you’d be right, except for the FUCKING 5/8 PUSH LOCK FITTINGS. Make both ends of your 5/8 supply line to the pump BEFORE putting the tank back in the truck.

May be just me and/or my setup (factory rated/low power one) but mine works as intended until about half to 1/3 tank then it looses prime on stops or going down hill on my truck. I have a Beans Diesel sump pretty much directly below factory pickup and a titan 67gal tank. Factory pickup works flawlessly down to the last couple gallons of fuel. When I was trying to figure it out neither fass nor beans could figure it out, fass just blamed the titan tank. Wast of 800bucks in my case/opinion, but I've heard alot of praise which is why I initially tried for it. Good luck to all who have them (fass, air dog, etc) and those looking into them, I wish you nothing but better luck than I had with them. One thing I'd like to see from fass, or even 4th party, is some caps for the factory pump so when you bypass it it can be locked down, I came out of work to a river of diesel from mine when the rubber cap I had on mine split. I've since not put the fass back in use.

Just put a fass on my pickup this video was lots of help, my only question is I disconnected every thing on the factory pump I believe but I’m still getting some fuel through the flow line I believe and don’t now why. I believe it’s only the two electric connection I need to disconnect or is there another one I need to take off I don’t know about?

This kit is just a gear pump set with some filters on a base. It does no regulation and leaves the stock parts on the truck in charge of handling that. 13:57 you see those two lines he used to bypass the stock fuel conditioner/pump. The two connections in the front go to the secondary fuel filter which has a regulator and a return built in the factory part on the Diesel engine. That's the same thing you install the blue screen update in. It controls the fuel returning to the tank and the pressure that is delivered to the injectors.

@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH So does that mean you now loose your "Miles till empty" gauge on the dash?.... Considering that factory filter/lift pump is what determines your distance till empty aswell as your fuel mileage lol.... Cause that's annoying if you loose that (Not that there very accurate anyways)
@btwbrand
Жыл бұрын
@@Gendreau113 Miles till empty and estimated mileage is calculated by two things. The FICM reporting how much fuel you burn and the TCU reporting your average speed are used for a calculation of your miles per gallon. That calculation is multiplied by the amount of fuel the fuel sending unit in the tank reports is in the tank. So no, none of that is lost because nothing involved in those dash indicators was altered. The fuel conditioning unit was bypassed and a gear pump with a fuel filter base was installed in this video.
@Gendreau113
Жыл бұрын
@@btwbrand That's what I figured, but when I did a Cummins swap on my truck I lost my DTE. If the FICM also calculates the fuel economy, that completely explains why I lost it since I no longer had the Ford Injection module. Thank you for the good explanation though!! :)
