Thanks so much for the video. For me, when i hooked it up this way, the fan and lightbulb switches on the wall were reversed, so i had to go back in and switch the black and red wires coming from the ceiling.

Does this work for other models of a hunter ceiling fan?

Yes, the process should be very similar. Most have the same basic remote and receiver. Double-check your instructions to ensure you are doing to correctly though! Thanks for watching and commenting!

@CrazyKatz18, @KaBui16: The way I understand (and I'll be wiring up this today) is that you're passing black from one wall switch and red from another. In the video example, the red is connected to the black from the receiver, and the black bypasses it and is connected directly to the fan via the blue. For me, this means that the fan power [red] passes through the receiver (and thus is controlable and has speed control) but the light [black] goes directly to the fan. This means that it is impossible to control it with the remote. That's the tradeoff for having an extra switch on the wall that can turn something on and off independently. In a normal hardwired or single switch installation (this via the fan instructions), black from the switch connects to black on the receiver. The receiver then doses out power to the fan via the yellow [fan] and blue [light] wires.

Be careful: There's the Avia II and then there's the Avia 48". The Avia 48" doesn't have the download AND CAN'T HAVE ONE INSTALLED--it mounts flush against the ceiling. So, if you have a sloped ceiling, it's probably going to hit the ceiling. The Avia II is a lot better since you can chose how low or how high to hang it. The Avia II comes with a 4" rod in the box.

Thanks for the video. It helped a lot! If I want to use remote for the light also how would I wire it?

Thanks for the video! Is there a reason why the blue from the receiver is capped off? We followed your wiring for our fan but the light can’t be controlled by the remote (only the dimmer switch it’s routed to). Wondering if we can cap the blue receiver wire with the blue fan and live wire from the ceiling to fix the issue.

I have the same problem, the light button on my remote doesn’t turn on/off. The fan button works tho. I’ll buy a smart bulb for now

Thanks for the video. I was wondering how to do the wiring with the red wire and the two switches on the wall without disabling the second switch. Now I won't have to call an electrician.
