Thank you very much for this video. I had a loose mixer tap and was able to use your step-by-step method to work out what was wrong and how to fix it without the need for calling a plumber. Much appreciated.

Very good video. Now I can see how to tighten from below to stop the unit from swinging when moving the spout. It had to be an easy fix but I could not easily see the locating rod and nut in that confined space! Thank you.

Thanks for the video. I recommend using a 3/8 drive socket with a long socket of the correct diameter. These can vary . Easier to tighten the nut from underneath the sink rather than using a spanner. Particularly in tight situations.

If your mixer tap is dual flow and the hot/cold come from separate exits at the end of the spout, then it's a bit important which way round you fit the cold and hot. In a dual flow, hot water travels in a smaller pipe *within* the tap itself, through which the cold water travels. This way, the cold is always in contact with the outside spout wall and you'll never burn yourself on a tap where hot water is in contact with the spout wall. But then this is backwards UK so the rest of the world has probably moved on to the safer and simpler single flow taps :D

I'm a kiwi and the SA accent is familiar to me too, sounds much better than the Aussie one... they all sound like they're holding their nose whiile complaining about being constipated.

Thanks mate, the cleaning by methylated spirits saved me the day. My installation always leaks, until saw this video and know how to fixed it. I couldn't find the meth spirit, so I used baby wipe instead and it works. I got the point, thanks again.

Hi great video !!! all looks similar to mine so great help. Can I ask you a question please in the manual of the taps i intend to buy it says "12mm hose diameter" that is not the thread size is it? so would the thread of the joint connectors (metal parts) be also 12mm or could even be 3/4 inch (approx 19mm). Being honest I get confused when it comes to -how to measure the thread size of the metal joining parts , please help if you can

5:25 Not important for which colour pipe connection? Wrong. @ 8:20 There is clearly a red/blue colour code on the tap so the user can identify which way to turn for hot or cold. Through careless work you are badly installing a tap for the user.

From experience those twirl mono lever taps are not very robust.....just connected/rotated by a plastic element prone to breaking off.

After you learn how to do this sort of thing and you understand how simple it is, you realise how embarrassing it is to get a professional plumber in to do the job for you. A set of spanners and screwdrivers is enough to do most common jobs yourself on both your house and your car. I mean, if you can take the lid off a jar of jam and undo a single bolt, you can do a complete engine oil service on your car.

after I replaced mine 6 months ago, it kept working loose. the cleaning with metholated spirits in this video was a good one, i did not do this previously. it'd been in use for some years and some oil had got in there. that stops the rubber from biting into the sink. i cleaned all the parts with metho and let it dry well, then it stuck well
