Hi Alex, cool video. I have Sram Force group set , this one time my battery went flat and the rear mech stopped shifting, so I put the chain on the big ring and swapped batteries made it home no worries, took over and hour when I got home to charge both.

Also there is a contact screw ontop of the levers just as you pull the hood cover back to determine how much or little you pull the brake lever before the brakes engage and a reach adjustment screw buried underneath the brake levers to adjust how close/ far away you want the levers to be depending on the size of your hands.

would be nice to see maintenance videos for retro tech (eg.Shimano 600, etc.) to the latest tech, this would be a huge help for those who just got their grubby hands on retro and/or latest tech and maybe some trivia for each to make it interesting.

Totally agree with the retro tech bit. I would love to refurbish an older bike with downtube shifters or build a bike from older parts with my son so we can practice some DIY skills like truing a wheel on something that isn't a 3000 pound set of carbon aero wheels with internal spoke nipples that I would never try to work on myself.

Wouldn't it be easier to hold the rear shifter in your hand after installing the rear deraileur so you could perform the micro adjustments while looking directly at the derailleur from behind? After the final adjustment, THEN install the wireless shifter on the front of the bike.

Second hand can offer some great discounts. I purchased a full Ultegra 6800 Groupset including a Ritchey WCS Lightweight bar and Stem for £275 on Facebook marketplace from a seller who cracked their frame in the work stand. I’ve since purchased Ultegra R8000 brakes for £60, R8000 Crankset off a warranty replacement for £110 and a front and rear r8000 derailleur and R8000 cassette for £90 for the bundle. I’ve even made a small profit from selling the parts that have been replaced. Like anything it’s careful to ensure the condition of the parts your buying are upto par and reflect the price. But people are often removing stock parts and eBay and Facebook often have gems hidden amongst all the faff. You could easily upgrade the necessary to the latest Shimano 105 for much closer to the price of buying a complete Claris set for RRP.

As much as i do like watching GCN tech, there are multiple issues in the steps to install AXS groupset to a bike. #1 installing front derailleur. In setting up you missed aligning the mech using the lines on the top of the derailleur to be in line with the big chainring (not parallel like shimano). #2 completely missed using the black plastic support bracket that bolts on to the back of the front mech. #3 b gap is dependent on Cassette size (not 6mm like it used to be. Good try anyway guys. Still love watching your content.

Maybe I'm in the minority but Ive had no end of problems with SRAM Force AXS since buying 6 months ago. Shifts in the middle of the cassette are slow in both directions. Massively expensive groupset (for me). Seriously my 10yo bike with 10spd 105 (Ultegra cassette and chain) mech shifted more predictably and felt more durable. And the rim brakes were far less trouble. ohh and that bike was lighter too. Be careful and check the cost of a SRAM cassette and chain vs Ultegra as well....Coz I bought a Force cassette and died of shock (and the cassette has rust marks on the "stainless" steel connecting lugs if you can believe that)

Question: I have a trek domane al3. I want to upgrade my rear hub to a 11 speed casette compatible. The stock hubs specs say its a 5x130mm. Can i use 9x130mm instead? Its very hard to find a 5x130mm hub. Thanks
@stephenturkLA
3 жыл бұрын
130mm is the hub width. 5mm is the diameter of the skewer, and of the hole through the middle of the axle. 9mm (actually 10mm for the rear axle) is the outside diameter of the axle. Any 11-speed QR rear wheel with 130 OLD should work, because it will have the appropriate 10mm outside diameter to fit in the dropouts and the appropriate 5mm hole for the skewer.

Sram official instruction videos mention that the limits screws of the rear derailleur they should never put force or move the mechanism/ motor of the rear derailleur - the rear limit screws should just touch the body ....the whole micro adjustments should be done by the button commands... Alex in the rear derailleur small cog limit screw you screw the limit screw and you force the motor mechanism to align it with the small cog..this is full wrong according SRAM OFFICIAL INSTRUCTIONS...rear limit screws are just touching the body..never adjusting or moving the pulleys by screwing them...it's not a mechanical derailleur...it's an electronic motorized derailleur..😱
