Just purchased a mk4, been watching the shit out of your channel just to get familiarized. Got to say that full filter is damn massive,

As a safety measure, you should have pulled out the 15 Amp fuel pump fuse or disconnect the battery.

Khai Bui no its not needed. Just as long you dont open any doors or the hood. This will prime the pump.

Have had my fuel filter for three years, possibly four...but in my defense the car just hit 118k...not too shabby for an '04 GTI...breaking the hose clips and clamp are what have me putting this project off...
@PincheALsGarage

K03sport its hard to break the clips. Just need to be patient with it.

Do the hose clips go over the lip on the fuel filter end nozzles or just push on up to the lip? I had a metal filter but the hose kept slipping off. With the old plastic filter it stays on fine.
@PincheALsGarage

They clip in place. The factory stuff will clip in and thats it. If you have a modified one i suggest you get a fuel filter with a barb fitting for rubber hose to fit snug.

@@PincheALsGarage I managed to sort it, I took it all apart 'again' and put the hose that was hard to put on first (it needed more umph) to make it clip on.

I have a mk4 1.8t gti I have a new fuel filter and I've had a look at mine and I don't seem to have the same connection as you with the little push in button/clip, some of them do under there but not the ones connected to the fuel filter. I'm worried about breaking or splitting the lines trying to take them off the filter. They look exactly the same, just not with any button to press to release them. Have you come across these before and how do I take them off without breaking?

Why don't you depressurize the system by taking it the fuel pump relay and staying the car until it stalls. That way you won't make any mess
@PincheALsGarage
6 жыл бұрын
Matthew Riley even if you depressure the system there will always be fuel. All the fuel that came out was from the filter anyways
@eb121209

Matthew Riley depressurization the system doesn’t magically remove all the fuel that’s stored in the filter.
