How often do you have to empty the catch can? Will it void the warranty? 🤔. With GDI you would think car manufacturers would start to include them from the factory to help with build up in the intake valves.

No it will Not void warranty. When it comes to emptying them, it depends on size of can and temperature. In cooler months there may be more caught because less will evaporate.

Emptied mine today and surprised the amount of brown sludge in it. Unfortunately they're illegal to have here in California and under jan 2019 new vehicle code, officers have the right to pop your hood and inspect with no longer fixit ticket but a fine. These can extend to more than $1000 in fines if continued caught with it. First time they immediately send you to a smog ref which will be a $100+ fee alone to further inspect. I need to pull the air intake as well. Mines a dual cc with breather filter and screams mod painted red. I can paint it black and try and hide it. Its a catch 22... suffer a messed up turbo eventually stock, or pay the fines. Option 3 is moving out of state, definitely on my plan list.

@@eduardocortes4317 intake valves should be a worry but if your piston tops get covered with enough carbon layers your screwed engine will ping and you’ll have to use higher octane gas and if it’s that bad you could risk taking out the catylic converter with spray cleanings, manually clean those valves have them inspected first maybe again you can do it yourselfe, put a catch can on so you don’t mess up the compression of your engine. Carbon layers on your piston tops can increase the compression when these engine are already strained from being gdi. Don’t proscrastinate. I’m telling from experience least I could do is save some e else also every now and then make sure oil level is good can’t trust the gdi system if your oil goes low all this means nothing you’ll have to get a new engine if damaged.
