I just received delivery of my new Askar FRA500 yesterday. I wasn't quite sure how to set up the ZWO EAF so I took a look at your video. Glad I did cause it's always easier to watch someone else make mistakes, so I don't have to!!! LOL But you did it right the first time, thank you. It was easy to follow your procedure and doing so I was able to get my EAF mounted and working with the 500 and ASIAIR Plus in just minutes. Should be getting CS this evening here in upstate NY so I'll finish setting this up to try some imaging I think with my ASI2600mc and the FRA500. Thanks again and CS!! (I also subbed as you have an extensive set of what looks to be informative video that I will eventually check out).

Excellent honest content as always! Had a great laugh when you talked about working on the floor as I was working on my setup last night on the floor as well; it's great advice. Very much looking forward to more of your videos on this scope as I'm considering getting one.

"It's the little bit of luxury we all deserve." So true. The ZWO has a limited "lock to lock" range of travel, so I find it a lot easier to do a manual focus and establish this as a midpoint of travel. Then install the EAF.

Hi Sasha, fun to watch someone else do that! When I set up / and use it I have found times I release the screws locking in the EAF axel so I’m free to manually focus the scope. Then when I’m at focus (checking with the bahtinov mask) I then re lock the EAF axel by retightening the screws. Saves a heap of time. And can I suggest, could you do a session on using an EAF properly? I find it really hard to find ideal settings. There are lots of settings to auto focus during imaging sessions and if not done right put the scope out of focus mid session. Very annoying to say the least! and I hope the clear skies come soon!! Glorious here the past few nights!! Vielen dank für alles! 🙏

The ASCOM driver for the EAF always reports a max step count of 65000. However, it is unlikely that your focuser drawtube will allow that many steps from fully in to fully out. Some imaging apps allow you to specify the maximum number of steps your focuser can use. Without that, you can run the focuser to its limit and jam the EAF. With my Feathertouch 2" focuser, full drawtube travel, 1.5", was only 17,500 steps.

Sasha, a big mistake everyone including me! Don't use those set screws already in the coupler! There should be a small bag that has them with blue LocTite on the threads, because the company that makes those couplers include those set screws and with temps changes will come loose. So ZWO as smart as they are included extra set screws with LocTite already on them... Must use those LocTite screws to prevent then coming loose... Every video on the ZWO EAF does not talk about those LocTite set screws...

Well, most likely they are not mentioned because they are not included in most cases. Just double checked now and nope, no such screws...... But yes, would be nice....
