Very good description of the install. My dealer installed the official Battery Tender pigtail on my AK 550. Those usually have 18 ga wire and are good for up to 7.5-10 amps. But I wanted to use mine for also running my Slime mini compressor which requires 15 amps minimum. It is NEVER a good idea to simply replace the fuse with a bigger fuse unless the wire is big enough to handle more current. I replaced the official BT pigtail with one that has 16 ga wire which is good for up to 20 amps max. It is also a few inches longer than the official pigtail. I can now pump up my tires on the road. I also bought a battery clips to SAE cable and a 3 ft SAE to SAE extension cable with a removable gender changer adapter to be able to assist other mc riders while traveling. The battery clips to SAE cable is for those who don't have a BT pigtail installed. All of these are very small so I carry them any time I travel cross country.

The only way to put those waterproof grommets on is to get your hand BEHIND the glove box hole and that ain't happening....LOL

You should do a motovlog show what the bike can do how does it ride with a passenger

My plan is to do a video like that, take it on the highway and show how it handles; I haven't taken a passenger yet but it would be more than capable.

This spring I'll be making a hitch to pull a Uni-Go cargo trailer with my AK 550. I'll be getting the Uni-Go trailer later in January. This bike has plenty of power to pull a small light weight cargo trailer.

Kahuna, i just found your video and thank you. A big shout out to you and thanks! It is VERY difficult to find ANY information on the 2023 kymco ak560i. ABS. This is not the premium, but the regular. I do have the Cyclopedia maintenance manual and im glad because this bike is technically advanced. Anyway, id like to ask of you a question. My driver side rear view mirror got bent back a bit and as a result, the place where it would normally "pop into place and stay there" is a bit loose; so much so that when I'm go above 55mph, the wind blows the driver side mirror back torward me and I loose visibility on the driver side. Can you recommend any tutorials or anything? My maintenance book has nothing on this that i could see. I thank you in advance.

Don't feel like taking my mirror off but I'm taking a guess that there is a ball compressed with a spring just like for the Pillion foot rests that set in a groove once open. If you look at your mirror you can see some cut outs, just taking a guess here. Just pop off the bottom nut and take a gander. You can buy a new mirror for $50 since it's bent. taiwanbigscootershop.com/collections/ak550/products/kymco-ak550-oem-rear-view-mirrors?variant=32233140584547

Just guessing here that you are referring to the left mirror or mirror stalk? Asking because I just happen to have a spare right side mirror assembly, mirror and stalk and mounting base, I picked up from someone who was giving it away for the cost of shipping. It is in very good condition other than a few scratches in the paint.

I also use a Battery Tender Jr and since it is small enough I pack it for my cross country travels on the AK.

I did the same thing but with a Noco Genius 1. However the noco won't charge the battery when the battery is hooked up to the bike. It'll only charge the battery if it's disconnected from the bike. Which defeats the purpose of drilling through the glove box and installing a permanent battery tender. Does your Battery Tender Junior charge the lithium battery while the battery is hooked up to the bike?

Noco Genius is being too smart 😂. And yes the Tender Jr charges with the battery hooked up. Using an Agm Yuasa battery, not lithium.

@@Kahuna_550 Where did you buy the Agm Yuasa battery? Now I'm wondering if I should get a new battery or stick with the stock one and get a different battery tender? Taking off the windshield and cover everytime the battery dies just to charge it is a pain in the ass, and the battery dies often on this thing 😤

@@przemeksledziewski1973 I purchased it from Amazon, YTZ14S. And yeah, Agm batteries are better for bikes I think. Lithium is too finicky, Yuasa is expensive but you get what you pay for, it will last.

Thanks for the info guys! I'm looking to get the Genius 2. I have the stock battery on my 2022 and it died for the 1st time. I believe I can use the Genius 2 with the current stock battery and with the Noho Lithiium later. Can you guys confirm?

Did yours not have one already installed. There should be a wire behind the fork. I use a battery tender but never installed a cable.

I have found that most bikes don't have one installed from the factory, but a lot of dealers will install one for a sale.
