The 3/16" drill bit is incorrect for the screws given.

I bought a bifold louvered door for my laundry room and there is a marble threshold separating the kitchen from the laundry room. How do I install the bottom piece of the door? Would I have to drill a hole through the marble?

Can you cut the height of the door (example 5 inches) and easily adapt the bottom pivot?
@dylb0tt

5 inches may be too much, you would likely need to install a new bottom.

Don't listen to their sizing recommendations in this video. They say 78 3/4" opening, use a 78" door etc (saving 3/4" for hardware). This is not enough clearance. For 79" door you need 80 1/4 - 3/4" inch opening. So 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 extra space is required for hardware.

Are these bi-fold doors soundproof; is it possible to soundproof them?
@sinanc3761

no, as there are gaps all around the doors they are not meant for bedrooms or rooms they are meant for closets.

I am finding the sizing very confusing. The door measures 35 1/2 for a 36" door and anything I have read says to add 2" in order to have the right rough opening. If you go by the idea that it is a 36" door then your opening is 38". You add your 1/2" jamb board on both sides which takes up 1" leaving you with a opening of 37". Now you finished opening is 37" for a door that actually measures 35 1/2". The gap of 1 1/2" which is a very big gap to cover up so there isn't daylight between the door and the jamb. So what should the rough opening really be?

What good does it do to tap the pivot wheel into the top of the door when doing so compresses the spring and releases the wheel shaft so that the spring is no longer functional? It happened to the top pivot also, but I was able to get the spring to re-engage. I can't get the plastic case out of the door and the wheel and shaft are now free and won't hold up the door. :(

My bad, the spring is still on the shaft. But neither attaches to the door. So the door still won't be held up by this useless item. The wheel will run along the track and the bottom of the door will scrape along the floor. I can't believe I waited 5 months to get this item only to have the installation hardware break while trying to install it.

@@lindaw2165 your bottom pivot needs to be adjusted so the door is higher.

Same thing happened to me. I got two of these, for one I just pushed the pivots in and they didn’t go in all the way, but they work, though they leave a very ugly 2 inch gap at the top. For the other one, I hammered it very lightly, like the instructions say, and of course the pivot broke. Taking it back to Home Depot now, hopefully they’ll take it back.

Chiming in to agree. The included hardware is low quality. I used a rubber mallet and piece of wood to tap the pins in gently, but in two doors, 2 out of 3 top pins stopped springing back once tapped in. I ended up buying higher quality pins from the hardware store, yanking out the ones that came with the door, and using a 3/8" drill bit to remove the plastic sheathe from the original.

@@tvientii'm going to have to do the same thing. Followed instructions exactly, gentle taps, and the springs inside the top pivots binded and now impossible to seat door / adjust bottom pivot height properly. Glad to know a new set of pivots should do the trick.

I'm only here because the paper instructions are so bad because they do not describe which screws are used where, just use screws provided. There are 5 different kinds...
