Again, bravo Josh. Love seeing your boss getting involved as well. The only time I use clear silicone for a sink drain is when the sink is corian or some quarts sinks because plumbers putty can actually stain the product. Also if you get an inexpensive sink at a box store watch to see if the underneath part of the sink is flat and smooth. I've had to put some plumbers putty in-between the rubber piece and the sink. (Not often) Hooking up faucets and drains is always easier if you can as well. The drain out of the wall I always put my adapter on after the sinks or sink is installed so if you have to adjust, like you had to on the second hook up, you can glue the pieces and not use a threaded adapter. Of course I love the fact that you explained that this can happen. I always have what is called my tinker toy box with plenty of fittings especially on a remodel job. Of course new construction the vanities might not be chosen and plumbers do not know 100% what type of sink if it's a single bowl or double bowl in case someone changes their mind. Little things always happen but there's always ways around them. Very seldom do I put any adhesive underneath the vanity top for the reason if something were to be damaged and you had to remove the top it's easier to cut that little bead of silicone or adhesive. I've had tops to be removed that someone used liquid nails and you basically have to destroy the top to get it off and sometimes can damage the existing cabinet. Backsplashes as well. I never put any sealant underneath the bottom because you will not get a solid fit with something obstructing underneath. All your tips of course are fantastic with much information to almost anybody who might want to do this on their own. That's what I love about your videos and all the information that you share. And don't forget to always give your wife credit because that's the most important part of a successful job when they have to give you a hand. I almost forgot the important part of the project when it started how about the light fixtures. So much easier as you stated then you do not have an issue of damaging anything or scratching the cabinet or the countertop or even dropping something on it. 👍🏻

Thanks for the info about using silicone instead of putty on other materials. I actually never heard of that so that is helpful. Smart to hold off on the adapter as well. Better to have a glue joint vs Teflon tape for sure. I don’t like to put silicone on top of the vanity when setting the top either. If you have to lift it up to install something as I did in this video, it would be a mess. The support of a spouse is not something that can be substituted with anything else. I always look forward to your detailed comments David. Thanks again for your support!

@@TheExcellentLaborer 😊 one of the only two plumbing jobs I ever did was installing that drain thing on there but of course the vanity was already in place. But it was really hard being underneath there trying to adjust it. But that was a long time ago I'm ready for more punishment now of course I've changed my tub spout diverter thing and my shower head that's it for me as a plumber. Wait I also replaced the kitchen diverter spray hose cartridge that's four plumbing jobs.🤣

That's a great tip to get the backsplash flush against the wall. Thanks! Also, recommending a related video at the end is smart marketing on your part. I feel like I'm wiki-binging with how many I've watched. I always hammer the like button for you, of course. I think you can afford to trim down your introduction at the beginning. It sounds like you're trying to say it fast to keep it short, but I think you could trim a sentence or two and let yourself breathe instead. Your content is fantastic, and that will bring more people in than any pitch.

A word of caution when using plumber's putty, sometimes referred to as 'stainless putty". It's okay to use it on stainless steel sinks, but depending on what material your sink is made of, most manufacturers of cultured marble bathroom sinks tell you NOT to use those putty's because they react with the material the sink is made of, and the sink will crack in the area where the pop-up drain is attached to the sink. Instead, they recommend using silicon to seal the pop-up to the sink. I recommend that you check with the manufacturer of your sink before using putty.

If the vanity has legs like a piece of furniture vs. a cabinet with a Toe Kick wouldn't you want to have your water lines coming out of the wall so it's easier to clean under the vanity? Nice work.
