Worked like a charm, thank you for the close ups on those tabs. A couple of other videos did not show that and I didn't get it until I watched yours. Easy repair for a keyboard that had bad keys I had struggled with for months. Got the replacement on ebay also. Thank you for posting. Also, I used one of the little screwdrivers for eyeglass repair, worked perfectly.

Good evening, Sir! Greatly appreciated. Having a few cockatiels, they just LOVE to take keys appart then, 'chew' on the rubber part beneath it. This saved my wife's Laptop. Following your instructive video, I got one from Amazon (Prime) and I'll get it tomorrow. Since I'm in Canada, though, it cost me 38$ taxes in. But it beats the heavy prices of PC repair shops, for sure. Thank you again and have a nice evening!

Very good advice about replacing the keyboard instead of trying to repair the key. I have replaced several of these and its very easy. Your video was very accurate.

Your video worked for my Aspire/Acer model, but the 5733z-4633 is a very difficult model to press the tabs in. It took a bit, but I managed to coax the tabs in and get my keyboard replaced. Thanks...

Thanks, your video was very helpful; I used a sharp tip knife, it took less than 10 minutes. I agree with your suggestion to change the entire keyboard. Even though only one key was bad, the keyboard was filled with a couple years of dust, debris etc. Now, like new very neat.

I was able to "repair" my keyboard by giving it a thorough cleaning after I removed it. I tapped the keyboard on its ends repeatedly to get out all the dust and debris from underneath the keys, and then went over the edges of the keys with alcohol and q-tips.

The part where you take the old belt out got covered up - had no idea what you did. I finally got it out, then Icouldn't figure out how to get the new one secured under the white thing - the white thing never popped up. Belt wouldn't fit under it.

Hey. Greetings from Germany. Watched quite a few vids so far, but none that focused so well on the details. I could never figure out how those little tabs get pushed. Now I know, and I just pray that the ordered keyboard for my Travelmate 7750G can be installed that easily and no screws are involved. Unfortunately, there are neither tutorial vids nor otherwise instructions available for that particular Acer model.
@RubberWilbur

+1FallCity Just look on the bottom of your new keyboard and see if you see a little pole where a screw would go into. If there are none then it doesn't use screws

+1FallCity BUT: That wouldn't have bothered me much. But I saw other vids, where you have to disassemble half the laptop to get to the keypad. That is what I was afraid of.

I strongly disagree. It misses to tell an extremely critical information. This video makes you to conclude that the 6 tabs (retainers, hinders) in front or the 2 on sides must be pushed in as if they are latches or hinges or reusable locks. THEY are plastics that get broken forever when pushing in them. I just did that after watching this video which should emphasize more this fact e.g. by displaying text. If he just did that the video would save me some agony which I had remedy by gluing the keyboard with 2 component glue need in 24 hours to dry. otherwise it is a nice video.

+josefbyonan Josef, honestly - after all it wasn't really as easy as shown in the vid to replace the keypad. I struggled with those 6 tabs, too. But in my case that results from a lack of practice. Watch other videos. They all more or less show that those tabs get pushed in. And that is exactly what I did without breaking them. For me, the hard part was to get the right move to push them in and sliding underneath the pad to lift it up. I couldn't manage without slightly damaging the edges of the old keypad. But the notebook itself stayed undamaged. The tabs now hold the new keyboard the same way as they held the old one. Moreover, I don't understand the exact point of your criticism. Because you do not explain at all which handling would be the correct one in your opinion.

I have a 7741 model and the keyboard is exactly the same. However the side tabs were immovable. I ended up destroying the old keyboard getting it out but no big deal since I was putting a new one in. Now my next problem is getting the ribbon cable to stay. It only goes in so far and even tho I push the latch down the ribbon cable comes right out. If I try to push the ribbon cable in it just bends meaning it can’t go any further. So idk. Gotta keep trying tho since I bent the old keyboard lol

well, the keyboard I got is terrible. it's not solid on the bottom so if I spill anyting on it it'll go right thruough. the keys are very light and have a "tinny" cheap sound when I type. (I know how to type the "real" way). and the space bar i have to hit harder than normal becauseoften (see????) the space won't go in. I only got a new keyboard becausethe (!!!!!!!!!) old one was filthy and there's dents worn in most of the keys and they're all smooth, but it worked better than this piece of junk.

I followed your instructions and destroyed my Acer laptop because the connector was not hinged and had a different design. You may want to expound on that. Poor video. KZitem viewers, get a magnifying glass and be sure your connector is the same as the one before attempting to pry it open with a screwdriver.

Do NOT try this procedure for the Acer Aspire 5515; it is very different. On the 5515, you must first remove the hinge cover bezel and then loosen 2 screws that hold the KB.

Be very leary. I followed his instructions and trashed my laptop because the connector for the ribbon used a different mechanical design. I found it in another video but sadly, it was after this guy told me to jam a screwdriver in the connector and pry-upward.

This doesn't work, not without risking a great deal of damage to the laptop. Therefore, my Acer laptop is not upgradable and I will be getting a new one---that's a lot easier to work on!
