Thanks for sharing. Mine is an electric motor wiper (1930 Town Sedan). The problem with mine is that the motor is mounted inside the windshield and the drive shaft goes through the notch in the windshield header where your on/off control is located. This means that when the windshield is opened, the motor also swings down and is slightly in my vision. The vacuum motor mounted on the outside looks like a better option.

Nice video. I didn't realize that was such a process on the A. I can remember rebuilding those wiper motors on the 40's and 50's cars in my dad's gas station and garage.

Just subbed to the channel, I’m sorting out my 31 Model A, 400A. Watching all the Model A videos that I can, Paul Shinn has been great on educating me. Ken from Kentucky, one more item that needs attention on the A. Working on the front end and brakes at the moment.

I did not know that the wiper motor was fitted on the outside, I have Trico vacuum wiper motors on two of my cars (Swallows - aka the first Jaguar cars) and they are both mounted on the inside! Mine are the smaller version of yours and Made in England rather than Made in USA, a simple motor that works, however, they operate best at idle, under acceleration the vacuum is less and the wiper slows or stops, lift your foot off the throttle and it will flick over the screen - quirky! I love how they self-park no matter where the wiper is when it is turned off. Greetings from the UK!

Thanks Austin yes they are quirky aren’t they? In my model A club over here I think I have the only one that works out of over 50 club members so I am very thankful! On your two wipers, what year were the cars made in? Are they later or same time period?

I received my writing desk. Its fantastic! Absolutely beautiful!! Can you give me some information on it? Who made it or where its from. I'd like to keep that info with the desk so when I pass it on they know a little about it. I'll be using it very soon since I've got all my supplies now! Thank you again! Austin, TX USA

Was there a rubber bushing between the wiper motor and the windshield frame?

May I suggest immersing your new wiper blade in Protectant 303 to soften the rubber and protect the blade from drying out in our sun UV and heat. It works wonders preserving all wiper blades and similar materials for many years. Think of it like how Rainex works on glass except it works on rubber. Blessings from St Marys, GA 🙏

I don’t know where large quantities were bought for our industrial use but Amazon has consumer size spray containers. I have only used the marine protectant in the past and would never be without it. I would buy new windshield wipers for the cars and find them dry and hard in a year. Now, I buy wipers after three years after soaking them in 303 before use. I pour the liquid in the plastic shell the wipers are packaged in and let them soak for a few hours. I pour the liquid back in the container and reuse it for all my other plastic and rubber parts. Wipe the parts down and install with peace of mind. Our chemical engineers swore by the stuff and saved the company lots of replacement costs.

SO there is not a clamp to go on the vacuum house where the hose is attached to the wiper motor?

@pumpkintown I never knew it was a "thing" till I saw your channel. But now I have all supplies you sent me so I can try & practice. Like your video explains. I just started learning ink drawing. Doing trees first. It's harder than it looks. But I'm doing fairly decent so far. I want to eventually try it with quill dip pen. I put a letter to you on my TO DO LIST! I think 18th century letter writing is so cool. I thought your laid paper was priced per ONE SHEET. That's why I bought 3! LOL. So I was happy to see I got a pack instead. I want to do 18th century writing to put in my handmade journals. I love to learn new cool things. Thank you for introducing me to this wonderful art. I loved your videos on grave stone history. I want to get your book at some point. I sure want to read it! And the book on letter writing too. The writing desk was not on my budget. But I didn't want to miss out on having one.
