Some vinyl plank products are made to be installed with the pads left on and glued. Check with your manufacturer. On those plank I use pressure sensitive glue, full spread each step and hand roll them. I never use liquid nails on anything vinyl plank especially moldings or stairnose. It will eventually fail. I use sikaflex 11fc and it works amazing! Zero complaints or failures and I've been doing it this way for about 5 years. Still good video though. We just do things differently.

I have the same flooring in the video. Do you suggest I leave or take off the padding for the steps? Also how many tubes of the sikaflex 11fc do you think I’ll need for 18 steps?

If you do the rise first with the female lip to the bottom, when you slide your tread in it locks it into place and gives you a perfect corner.

I’ve done it a couple was this way works out good for me and since I’m glowing them, no need to lock them in the treads are locked together, however

I’ve been researching and looking all day to see if I can just buy step nose overlay molding to cover the extended step lip and your video shows that I can! And it looks great. Yay! 😆 other videos I watched were more about molding the vinyl planks with a heat gun but that look way to time consuming to do. My stair lip is 1-1/4” thick, so you think a vinyl overlay molding will cover it? Not too many videos of how you did this but glad I came across this option.

They carried a stair nosing at Lowe’s and Home Depot and you can also get them at LL flooring or any other floor supply. You just need to tell them if you have a rounded stair nose or square stair nose that does matter.

no, because you’re gluing them down, they do not expand and contract when glued

How thin is the nosing? I am worried it'll be a trip hazard. Is there a way to thin that out a bit? Also, I didn't know they made the matching nosing with the vinyl flooring. I should go with this idea for my basement steps.
@everydayhomeimprovements9345

The Nelson won’t be a trip hazard so it’s basically like 1/8 of an inch where it goes over the flooring. There’s also ways to do it where the flooring butts up to the nosing and then it’s a flush but I don’t have a video of that to show you please like and subscribe and if you want to be really Charlotte share and in return if you ever have any questions about anything around the house, feel free to ask and if I can help you out, I will.

Only remove the padding on steps and it’s so that the glue stick to the back of the tile and we cut the tongue off the one on the step so that when it butts to the riser, you do not see a gap please subscribe to my channel it’s free and if you want to be really nice like and share and in return if you ever have any questions about anything around a homefeel free to reach out and ask if I can help I will

Home Depot and Lowe’s has them you can also go to LL flooring. It’s important to know if you have a rounded stair nose tell them you need it for a round Stair nose and if you have square stairs, you need to tell them you need it for a square Stair nose

They break lose and need replacement. Tripping hazard or not they kind of ruin the look and feel of the floor. Flush nosing is the way to go. Well worth the $... kzitem.infoQw7XCxT9Fus?feature=share
