Have a mid 2012 Mac Pro 5,1 since new. OCLP give this wonderful unit a new lease on life. Have not encountered any speed loss, overheating problems or internet speed connection problems. Currently on Sonoma 14.5 and the machine works just fine. For video editing/corrections, etc. use Shutter. Photo editing Gimp. Office stuff is down with either OpenOffice or LibreOffice. If and/or when anyone wants to give OCLP a go, do read the the 'fine' print carefully. Keep in mind that the Open Core project was initiated, IIRC, to allow the old 'cheese grater' Mac Pros to use later versions of OSX. My understanding is that the MacBook units are the ones that have the most 'hiccups' if you will. Though I have a 15" MacBook Pro (mid 2012) that is currently on 14.5 with no problems at all. OPCL does all of its 'magic' strictly via software. So one can easily remove it. One last thing. Suggest strongly that you do a back up of your system prior. Just in case something does go wrong.

Thank you! I have a 2015 15” MacBook Pro… soon it won’t receive any updates at all which makes me nervous. I do absolutely love my Mac and would keep it forever if it never had issues & continued receiving updates

before I do that, I want to ask first. is it illegal to install sonoma using ocpl on an old unsupported macbook. Is there a written policy from apple that prohibits using an unofficial os? are we breaking the rules?

@@KayuSungkai-gu7kq no. it is ilegal to install macOS on non-apple hardware (Hackintosh), but apple will not do anything because of it (if you're not selling hackintoshes).
