Great look. Would love to do it in my townhouse. Would u recommend using the sticky moldings available now a days instead of nailing wooden ones…or it’s a definite no no..

I leave messages on pieces I build as well. Name and date mostly, but I have a CNC and recently cut a message into the bottom of an access hatch in a pantry I am building in my own 92 year old home for the someday new owners to find. In a previous home, I glued a Goonies-themed Treasure map to an attic crawlspace wall (adjacent to likely kids bedroom). It led to a Nalgene bottle buried under the porch with some solid silver coins, baseball cards, and a Lego set. I think curiosity should be rewarded.

I would do the same thing except the smaller box would be at the bottom and the larger one would be on the top I'd place a chair rail in between the two panels and choose a crown molding with a little baroque detailing at the corners. Keeping it simple looks best for me. One last thing I'd do is put molding on the ceiling to just frame it out. Having this done in my new house. Formal traditional mixed with Ultra Modern and few rustic touches. Great video thank you ❤️

Good idea to get the 2 stiles on the wall first and then measure them to get the length of the rail. Just have to make sure the miters at all 4 corners fit well before attaching anything to the wall I suppose. BTW, I think you can get away with jogging around the electrical outlet because you painted everything the same color. If the walls were gray, and the trim white for example, it would not look as good, IMO.

I always thought it was backed with wood. I didn't realize it is paint! What type of paint is used that makes it look like a seamless piece of wood?

I love that you trimmed around the outlet. The people getting triggered over that are lame.

I watched the video to find out what you used for the decorative corner pieces inside the picture frame box corners? Love that touch and you have me a great idea. I bought metal "gold" corner attachments for my cupboards and thought those would work🤔
