I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS. I did the same to my 99 CRV and the suspension felt horrible but I left them on just to have a lift CRV. My tires got wear off so fast since it’s forcing the whole suspension therefore the tires aren’t even on the ground. A year later, (exactly today) I decided to take them off and I got new shocks to keep the original height and let me tell you, that’s the best decision I made. Suspension feels Amazing now.

@seanross1589

If you are also installing a new lower control arm, the new bushings make it extremely difficult to line up all three holes, especially since two of them (the one that lines up with the strut, and the one that lines up with the trailing arm) will be under tension.. My suggestion is to unbolt the upper control arm from the rear trailing arm, as well as to remove the two bolts holding the rear trailing arm bushing to the underside of the car. This will release the tension on rear trailing arm which makes lining up the hole with the rear lower control arm much easier. I hope this helps someone in the future.

Thanks for the video. I’m wrapping up the exact job including the same 1” rear spacers. My ‘00 has 235K on the original suspension so it is long overdue. I also did the entire front suspension as well as the rear, including the dreaded trailing arm bushings. Question, my preloaded rear struts are not marked R or L, does it matter which side? They look identical but I’m not sure.

The brand I went with is in the video. Ride quality didn't get better until I bought new tires. I couldn't tell a difference with just the shocks.

They say yes, but I don't think it's 100% necessary unless you're lowering a vehicle.

@@GarageBuiltHondas i was about to ask the same thing. Its good to know. I guess I won't now till I do it. I appreciate the video as I wasn't sure if it something I can tackle. The work itself looks simple enough, but I know nothing every goes as planned. My CR-V was a snowbelt car and I wonder if the bolts are heavily rusted or damaged. I don't have anything else but hand tools. I might pick up some power tools as I've always wanted to.

If you're having that much trouble it's probably seized into the bushing/control arm.

@@GarageBuiltHondas Thanks, I just ordered Monroe Quick-Struts for my Rears on my '07 CRV (I know your installation is different than my '07, but you have good tips). I have to do the front end in the near future. Thanks for sharing your video.

@Garage Built Hondas I just received mine through the mail. I did notice that both strut's "plastic protective/boot" was a little off centered per the actually strut, so I was wondering if they are supposed to look like that? I replayed your video to see if yours were similar, and per the 0:08 segment, your "plastic protective/boot" for the bottom strut looked like it was off centered too. Looks like one side of the strut could be rubbing against the "plastic protective/boot". Is this correct? Thanks!
