When installing large format tile, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), laminate flooring, or any other engineered flooring or floating flooring you need to make sure that your subfloor is extremely flat. The best way to do that is with self leveling underlayment, also called self leveling concrete. In this video I use LevelQuik RS over a plywood subfloor. This is how to level a floor.
Preparation is key to a successful application. In this video, I will show you how to set leveling gauges, seal the floor, prime, install metal lath, mix the underlayment, and pour the self leveling underlayment.
One great feature is that you will be able to install tile directly on this surface in four hours as long as you pour at least 1/4 inch thick and use metal lath. This saves you the time and expense of installing Hardibacker or Schluter System Kerdi or Ditra.
