If you jack the tractor up, you can still deflate the tires before putting the chains on.

You sure can…

The air valve is the outside of the tire.

Not when you want the wheels on the tractor in the wider configuration…

I guess thats everything except bungee rubber chain tightener on the outside of the tire to keep them from getting to loose and falling off

I’ve rarely needed to use bungees, there’s a couple of factors like actual tire size and pressure, how well the chains are installed, but in general I haven’t needed them.

The valve was on the inside - at least that was the side where you made the first connection with the hook. Wouldn't it be easier when it comes to removing the chains, with the wheels on the tractor, if the long lever was actually outside.

You’re assuming the valve stem is supposed to be the outside, it won’t always be that way. If you’re putting weights on the wheels, the wheels would be set to the wider orientation, as shown here and the valve stem would be on the inside. If you weren’t, sure you could flip the wheels around, but you’d still want the chain oriented so the lever is outside.

@@stuffyoucando2 Sorry! I thought the valve was always outside. Now I understand - thanks.

@@TrevorBStokes no problem, the wheels are meant be able to be flipped either way, it changes the width. It’s helpful for hilly areas where you risk rolling the tractor too.
