Thanks man! Good job on the video, I will have to do this job and ap2 retainers on my f20c! Did you notice any oil consumption variations?

Thanks for the video. I was surprised to see you didn’t check valve adjustment after putting the caps back on? Otherwise, great content.

My question is how do you know if the valve seal is seated properly?

leak down test

@@narfff8673 um, no. The valve seal has nothing to do with compression or leakdown. In the video if you listen when he is hammering the seals in with a socket, there is a distinct sound when the seal bottoms out. The sound becomes harder, like hammering solid metal. When you hear that change in sound, seal is fully seated.

Valve seal the same as a valve seat? Thanks

No. The valve seat is the wherethe big end of valve fits into big hole in head, at the combustion chamber. The valve seat seals the combustion chamber when plug fires and gas goes boom. Valve seal is rubber, and seals on the valve stem, the narrow pencil like area. Valve seal prevents oil from top of head from leaking down stem, where it would leak into intake or exhaust tract. It will cause blue exhaust smoke mostly at engine startup. If oil leaks into intake, then either pools up around closed valve, or drips into cylinder if valve is open. Drip, drip, drip all night long. By the time you start engine next day, quite a bit of oil has accumulated, and it burns blue. But soon enough all that built up oil burns off, and smoke almost completely stops. Its stil drip, drip, drip but with engine running it burns way faster than it can accumulate, and one little drip won't smoke much.

Did it fix the smoking!? My turbo 8th gen Honda Civic is smoking 2-5 mins into idle a lot. After warm up and drive it’s minor.

Been on jack stands 8 months scared to drive smoking .have time to fix my valves finally .I have an 03 ap1 135k miles ,with stock ap1 head and stock valve parts . Only 5 twenty minute sessions on track .Still descent compression but my valve seals are toast my exhaust is smokey the bear on wheels it feels ultra embarrassing please help. Question #1 any vavle parts i should replace when i install my new honda valve seals ? ?i bought stock honda seals btw .if yes ,do tell id be willing to buy different seals at this point but trust honda most internal on my setup im all stock internal some after market exterior on my engine .i would like a tad more torque but only NA torque nothing forced . Maybe level 2 springs kit and level 2 cams by skunk ? I do have the valve spring tool by Bp called block path i bought its similar to yours mines black yours is red . Last Question #2 Can you please message me a link for your plug hole to compressor tool set up for TDC i don't want to use rope .i need that tdc plughole to compressor tool in my life please .

Just curious, how is the smoking now from these valve stem seals. Is it still not smoking? Also, I keep reading that the worn guides may also be part of the issue. How did you make the decision to just do the seals and not also the guides? I wonder if there is a way to test guide by wiggling the valve from top side of head? I have read it is typically done from bottom of head by wiggling valve itself

Hello man, thank you for this video. Sorry but English is not my mother tongue I need your advice for my situation On my S2000 I had problems with overconsumption of oil and smoke from the exhaust. Apart from this problem the engine is great (in town and on the track). I asked my sports car mechanic to change the valve stem seals with your method, and he also adjusted the valve opening. When I got my car back I noticed that I had a lot of exhaust blasts on deceleration and after 100km a valve stuck and hit the engine piston !!! The mechanic says he did his job well and that it’s not his fault. He says the valve has probably been dirty inside the cylinder and probably isn't closing properly. He says surely with the new seals the oil did not come on and it was heating the valve which it got stuck. I'm very very sad :( What do you think of my situation? Do you have any advice for me? I do not find it normal that after changing the valve stem seals my engine breaks

Hey man, great video! Is it safe to drive the s2000 with bad cable stem seals? Or can it harm the engine?
