This is by far the best video of this sort. I've seen so much BS, leaving out important information, such as torque specs, and where to set the wrench exactly. Even how to clean parts is covered here. Other videos just say "clean it a bit." BS! This one is just perfect, even showing how to drive after installing the new stuff.

When I do brakes I always apply anti-seize compound to the hub face and rotor set screw. It makes next time that much easier.

You can tip the rear rotors out without removing the carrier. At most just loosen it a bit to wiggle out the rotor at a 45 degree angle.

I found it kinda odd how everwhere i watched said i need too rotate the rear pistons in but when i used that tool even with lots of rotational force it wouldnt budge at all. And then i pushed it straight in with a c clamp and it went in with minimal force. The ammount of force you could generate in between two fingers. It was concerning but my brakes work so wth😂

This is by far the BEST VW GLI Brake and Rotor replacement video EVER!!! I replaced my brakes 2 years ago and couldn't find any good detailed video with the actual footage of what it will look like. It was lways a little different.

I used this vid to do the brakes all around on my 2017 Alltrack. It definitely helps to have the car on a lift for the rear brakes as those triple square bolts require a lot of leverage to break free and you have to stand under the vehicle to get it done. Very happy with the results.

Wtf😂. My mk7 gli's front are like the the mk6 rear. And the rear are like the mk6 front.... in terms of the hardware too take them apart. (The front on the mk7 are like going on a walk while the rear are like running from a bear....i was unsuccessful in attempt too seapping my rear rotors aka i did a 75% brake job😂🫠🥲. Really sad cuz now i have 200$ worth of rotors i dont know if ill ever be able too use on the rear because i just couldnt get that carrier off....

I have a MK6 GTI; while bleeding the breaks why do you start at LF (closest to the master cylinder) instead of RR (furthest away from the master cylinder) like most cars?
@definitelynotaheretic.7295
2 жыл бұрын
Cause ze Germans. I love my GTI, but hot damn these cars are filled with German over specification, which is almost excessive everywhere. Like the caliper bolts that you have to replace because they’re torqued to yield. That’s the first I’ve seen that crap. I’ve never done that on any of the other cars I’ve owned and never had an issue with brake caliper bolts walking out between brake jobs.
