wait -- so... no glue? No grooves on the holes to hold the peg from turning?

Exactly. They stay in place due to friction. But if you install them on a used violin, you have to get rid of the chalk and soap inside the peggholes first.

@@mi85art Installed on my electric violin and my mind is blown! Easiest upgrade and now I could get rid of the wittner tailpiece and replace it with a much nicer ebony one. Since I was at it, I also replaced the stock bridge, with a very shallow cut, with a precut carbon fiber one, since on an electric violin, I have no need to carve out the legs to match the curvature of the violin. It looks sharp and plays wonderfully now!

Geared tuners are more superior than friction pegs cause they turn more smoothly
