The Hepatitis-B virus is a very common virus. One in every third individual has been exposed to HBV infection. This virus can remain dormant in the body post infection and can reactivate and cause severe symptoms when it is “reactivated”. Many immunosuppressive medications can cause reactivation of the disease. As pharmacists, it is crucial we know when to assess a patient for a hepatitis-b infection and how to interpret the serologic results. In this video, I break this down in the easiest way possible.
