speaking of fresh out of cdl school....swift was having a problem with the parking position of their trucks along the highway medians and roadsides. so their safety coordinator just spent $1.2 million on new decals for all their trucks. they read....."this end up"

So SWIFT drivers actually went to a CDL school? 🤯 😂 I don’t know how they manage to find the most terrible drivers and throw them in a truck. I get scared every time I see a SWIFT truck roll into the parking lot especially if a spot beside me is empty lol

It turns out you can jack it up from the leaf spring u-bolt using a floor jack (not a bottle jack, of course). I would not try this method on the front axle because it weighs over 11,000 pounds, while the drive axles don’t weigh much without a trailer. I saw a picture of this method on a Freightliner manual where they were moving the oil from one side of the drive axle to the other to lubricate the wheel bearings.

I have a 2002 Ford E350 Van Cutaway Box Truck with a 14 Foot Aluminum Box, Roll Up Rear Door, Dual Rear Wheels. I need to buy a Hydraulic Jack in case I get a Flat Tire. How do I determine what height and how much extension Jack I should buy? Should I measure from the lifting point to the ground, then subtract the height of the Tire if it goes flat?
@matthewsmith988

Where would you put the jack if the tire was flat? Wouldn't the front beam drop 6 inches or so? No room for jack.

Thanks for keeping up with me Henry, I'm a little short on repair videos lately, I've been doing some OTR driving and not home enough to play in the shop, but I can start a little vlogging from the truck, the other videos I did in the truck seem to get a little attention so I got some video in the computer to edit and put up hopefully this weekend.

Thanks Henry, I had my doubts about doing You tube because of my lack of charm and speaking ability, but then I was discouraged with so many You Tubers who put up a video and did not address the problem, I wasted my time watching a failed attempt and it was titled how to do it? I promise never to upload a video where I didn't finish the job, even the truck engine was not an attempt, the attempt was to find the money to do it, even though I never did a big truck engine before I knew 100% I had it covered if I could pay for it, I did plenty of engines on cars, and other equipment when I was a mechanic and have all the tools and the shop manual for the engine. Another thing you won't hear any profanity of cutting other people on my channel. Thanks for keeping in touch.

Too late now, the tank's on the floor, I'm looking for the pump relay, I think I found where to look from Google but don't have time now, if I could have found the relay before I dropped the tank I wouldn't have dropped it because I always check the electrical 1st but couldn't find the relay and forgot what color the wires were to just probe them in the harness.

Ain't that funny, I have the exact same hyd-jacks and they get used a lot. Getting ready to send my IHC 9400i Eagle to shop to have rear suspension pins and bushings replaced. It's a one-time only job and I don't want to invest $5,000 for the special tools so I'm gonna have a shop which has those tools do it for me. Already did the steer axle springs, pins, bushings, and hangers two years ago. Keeps me broke but I have a nice truck LOL.

I have done those pins on my truck at home, it is a tough job but can be done with regular shop tools. Sorry I don't have a video on that, it was about 7 or 10 years ago and I just started videos about a year and a half ago. If you grease the front pins the way I showed here, they will last longer.

It looks that way, I still haven't tried to take it out because after I dropped the tank I hotwired the pump and it runs, I couldn't find a pump relay and there're no YT videos on it, I did find some info on Google where to find the relay but have been driving OTR and had to drop that project for the moment and will be driving local next week 12 hours a day so they tell me so that's 14 hours out of my day, can't plan when to pick up on the Sonoma yet. I did video a lot of it though, just can't upload before it's fixed.

you remember where they put the turn signal flasher on the old Plymouth and Chrysler cars in the '70s? that's exactly what came to mind when I found on Google where to look, take off the center console and look behind the ash tray next to the turn signal flasher. I haven't tried yet but will never forget when I found out about the flasher on the old Plymouth.

I'm considering working on dump trucks was offered a job as a pm guy but I wanted to ask you because my shop manager told me you will get dirty and at times it will be hard work I have experience I was an auto mechanic but I left that to do diesel question is I'm not sure if I should go back to automotive or stay with diesel do you think diesel is well worth it?
@57bagre
7 жыл бұрын
They both pay about the same, cars can be more complicated and more picky and unsatisfied owners, trucks are less owners and more fleet owned but they are both related work, work atmosphere is the same, PM work is not hard on trucks, but it is dirty, the hard work is diagnosing computerized problems that no one knows what is going on. PM work won't require you to have as many of your own tools as mechanic work, you're just changing oil, topping fluids, changing leaking seals, brakes and tires, mud flaps, lights and so on, you won't be getting into the dashboard or inside the engine. I can't say which way to go, they're both the same and a little different.

thanks for the advice I appreciate it yeah I like trucks because of the space to work plus no one is on ur back when the job will be done, tomorrow is my first day I haven't worked on dump trucks mostly just tractor and trailers I'm starting at 14 an hour manager wants me to prove I'm worthy but any advice for first day?
@iammoetic2054
7 жыл бұрын
To be honest I'm not sure I will be doing any mechanic work in the future I currently want to get into music production later on so I am currently working on that reason why I was considering automotive I like working on trucks but I have a passion in the future to do something eles but energy levels get drained alot from diesel work and hardly find time u know
@57bagre
7 жыл бұрын
I guess it doesn't matter what kind of work you do, you will get drained, that's why it's work. For me, it's driving, it's easy, I nap almost anytime I want, I make OK money, I do my own repair work because I want to and I used to be a mechanic and already have all the tools. Any job you do, you need to look at it as a learning experience and an opportunity, there are bad places to work but most are good. Advice for a 1st day, bring a positive thankful attitude, and remember you are joining a teem and you want to be a needed and wanted teem member, don't look for what the job can do for you but what can you do for the job, and only do what they ask you to do to the best of your ability. Let me know how it turns out.
