The shallows come quick once you break out of the creeks so move that jackplate up and get on plane early! A few tips for getting on plane:
1.) If you have a jackplate, set it to the upper most height for getting on plane and shallow running.
2.) When possible, roll into the power to minimize wear and tear when to compared to slamming to wide open throttle.
3.) If your transom has any deadrise/vee to it, turning lays the hull onto its side creating a flatter planning surface and changing the angle of the skeg on the engine,. Both of which raise the vessel in the water further reducing draft, even if it is only ever so slightly.
4.) Usually there is a slight trough right next to shore on coasts impacted by waves breaking in a swash zone in heavier seas. You can use this area to help get up to speed before pulling a long arc towards deeper water...
ENJOY!!!
