This video made me get up out of my chair and start practicing air serves, lol. There's a LOT of technique you can practice without a ball actually. Just training your brain to think differently is a HUGE step.

I LOVE the part where she explains that not everyday, we players are just ripping serves 100%. There are always on and off days, it's how you deal with them that matters. Particularly just placing the ball well when your rhythm that day is off.

Last year we were checking videos on jump serving on the beach with some coaches and players. Imo, this is a perfect indoors serve directly moved to the sand. Having the approach of two steps + gathering makes it almost impossible to jump serve on power when there’s wind (as the ball will catch too much airtime and move). We tried out few times and starting already with the left foot ahead, right foot long step, left foot gather; we measured an overall improvement in efficiency, accuracy and power of around 75%. Which means it would be quite more precise than taking the full approach (as the player would have to chase ball, run, jump and then hit a shaking ball).

The McKibbin Brothers that’s possibly because of our indoors background; Evandro and other power servers take the two step bomb to a huge new level of power

Happy New Year fellas... just wanted to say thank you for all the great content thus far... it’s not only refreshing to the sport and culture of beach volleyball... but you dudes are authentic and original which makes your brand super likable ...And you bros are boyishly funnie :) ...especially when there is a super cute jump server as your guest schooling you on dance moves and 3.5 steps to being awesome. Great video to start the year my dudes. Geena thank you for hanging out with the boys and ‘crushing’ ;)

the spin, makes the object's trajectory more stable. It's the Torque principles in physic. Check "Torque demonstrations" on youtube. Therefore very usefull in windy conditions ;). for the half step, I would keep to the charleston's idea and just call it the Up beat. It's rythmicality/musicality I would say.

Thanks for these videos. Before you guys, there was a void of intelligent, well-produced beach volleyball tutorials on the internet. I have a question about the toss. I find my toss is much more accurate & consistent when I toss with two hands. I don't put much spin on the ball, but am I hampering other aspects of my serve by using the two handed toss? i.e. power, accuracy, etc.

Jump float, though I rarely get the ball to actually "knuckleball" like a good jump float ought to. I just toss with two hands (with no spin on the toss) and whack the shit out of it towards my target. Am I really missing out on additional power/spin by using the two-handed toss?

Are the arm swing mechanics intentionally different when jump serving vs hitting at the net? In the arm swing video with Taylor he was finishing with his right hand on his left side where as Geena seems to be swinging strait ahead and getting close to piking

NICE! At the point of contact with the ball, are you always seeing the contact?? Or do you allow your eyes to drift to your destination point?? AND, when I begin learning this, should I be just going for it? or should I work my way up to a full approach - first starting with a one-step, two-step, and then three step?? --yeah... real-life beginner here :b

Thank you! I'm a solid "B" with my passing and setting, but, for whatever reason I can never seem to get my approach right - so I'm always early, under the ball, and waunky (both my hit and jump serve) - so my hit is always some kind of shot rather than a hard driven ball. Sounds like I need to make my way down to Hermosa for a class sometime.
