This will work fine for a bathroom vent. Don't do this for a dryer vent because those holes will clog very quickly.

that looks great but in our area it's against code to do this on a dryer vent

Correct, this should never be done in the dryer vent.

I have an occasional wasp or wasp sized bug come through my exhaust vent (side wall) inside my bathroom. Any suggestions? Thanks

For non dryer vents. Take and cut a square of chicken wire and dome it into the hole, round side out. Keeps birds out but they will still attack the flaps trying to get in.

Any good suggestions on how to evict the birds before closing off?

Luckily I did not have anything established in my ductwork. I personally turned the vent fan on and some nest material flew out. I think I caught it on day one. I then removed the exhaust fan inside and the louvered cover outside and used a flashlight and mirror to verify that the duct was all clear. The only humane and legal advice I can give here is to safely remove them unharmed.

@@HowtoandReviewsOfficial I’ve been hearing birds in my bathroom vent for a while, and the other day it sounded like a bunch of babies hatched. It’s so loud and annoying, and I wonder if that’s what’s making my guest bathroom smell funky or if there’s some unspotted mold. Either way, I need to get them out and follow your tutorial to avoid them coming back in. Should be great for my kitchen exhaust fan too! Thank you for the video:)

I like your videos. I had a similar problem with birds flying into my vent. I duck taped a pie plate over it. when the fan is on it flaps up. with the fan is off it flaps down. problem solved.

Green Finch Chicks. I live on the f/floor & rarely us the extractor fan in my kitchen. l have a wide window in the kitchen that has smaller windows at each end which clears any cooking smell easily once opened. I have heard birds cheeping away constantly & thought there must be a nest in the guttering. This morning l went in to the kitchen to make a cup of tea & could chirping & to my surprise saw a baby chick trapped in the net curtIans & could see mum chirping outside the window at the chick. I opened the side window & after awhile managed to get the chick on to the window sill & mum started to feed it. I thought l would get my cup of tea & then l heard a slight noise behind me & saw a small item on the floor which turned out to be another chick, it flew to the curtains & l managed to get it out & onto the window ledge & along came mum with food & of they went. I haven't heard any chirping since, so l gather they have found a new nesting spot. I need to get the long step ladders out & check the vent (inside) to make sure it doesn't happen again. I need to get the landord to clear the gutters but there will be excuses. I was looking on you tube for advice to partially cover the vent without restricting the air flow. I think l may go along the same way & fit a cover & drill a number of holes into the plastic but l will stick it over with doubled sided tape,so it can be removed very easily when contractors have booked a safety check on the flat. Thanks for your guidance. 🍻

How long did it take for the mesh to become clogged with lint?
@HowtoandReviewsOfficial

Still all clear. This is not a clothes dryer vent. This is a bathroom exhaust fan vent; there is no lint.

Don't do this people. This will cause flow issues and in some areas it violates local code.
