I do agree that God's Word should be treated with respect - but I use all of mine daily and some of my favorite Bibles are thrift store Bibles! The more wear they get the more I'm using them! 😂 I did find an NKJV 1980s Gideon's pocket New Testament that was bright and beautiful white with perfect gold gilding (different color Gideon pocket Bibles mean different things, for example, red Gideons Bibles are distributed in schools, white - like mine - are given to doctors and nurses) WELL....I was wiping something with some hand sanitizer and didn't realize the bottle tipped over! It spilled on the gilding and completely wiped off/dissolved the gold 😢 I cried haha 😂 So, beware of hand sanitizer! It's very acidic when if comes to cleaning Bible covers and it destroys gilding! My husband comforted me and said, "Don't worry, we can get you another one from ebay!" Haha he is very sweet - I felt like a huge baby

Oh nooooo I would have cried too!!! 😭 A very important warning, especially if someone uses hand sanitizer before handing their Bibles... How sweet of your husband to offer to find another one for you though, I love that! Yes I think you're right that it's good to have a balance of both. I have been thinking for a while I should get a Bible where I can have full permission to go crazy in! It needs to be cheap and no fancy gilt or anything that I will get upset if it gets ruined though lol

I tend to keep my Bibles that I am not using in their boxes or sleeves. I have a large Bible Collection and I store them in a plastic storage container or a decent-sized box which is packed into my cupboard. In my opinion, keeping them in the boxes or sleeves they come in, is the best way to keep them safe. Have a blessed evening everyone 😊.

I wish I would have thought about some of these things before…like adding the tabs to the Bible. I did it bc I wanted to get a better understanding where the different books of the Bible were to one day be able to know where to turn to w/out the tabs. And I have a beautiful genuine leather ESV Journaling Study Bible that was a pretty penny but well worth it and I added tabs and just yesterday I noticed the edge of the cover turning upward 😢 so after seeing this video, I’m going to stack my larger bibles on top in the hopes that the weight of the other bibles will prevent further damage. Thank you so much for your insight on how to keep our bibles neat for those who may want to take special care of one or all of their bibles. Hope you have a blessed day!🫶🏼

I totally understand, tabs are very functional and definitely help with locating books, and can still look really pretty! Ooh good call adding the heavy books on top of it to flatten the cover, I hope that works! Thanks so much for your kind words and support as always, sis, God bless you! 💜✝

@@my-white-bibleI think you’ll enjoy the results and I enjoyed watching this video as I am messy and yet organized person and treat certain books with carefully considered pristine manners and yet others I go full boar into it with notes , colored paper glued in or sticky notes , colorful ERASABLE pens and hilighted because I am particular about making mistakes and don’t like to cross them out as it ruins everything I’ve placed neatly in my Bible accordingly as it all fits together . Also idk why I feel the need to share with you this but my husband was right when giving me advice that was opposed to my normal icy : he told me to clear everything off the kitchen counter for instance (opposite of what i typically do) and in doing so I am beginibb with a fresh start and he told me that things will be placed eventually coming altogether as they should piece by piece yet as it’s all being cleaned (I typically start with one section and make it neat but get overly overwhelmed wne stimulated and find that system never works for me so I’ve tried my husband’s perspective and it worked so much better and awesomely so considering it was the complete opposite of what I typically do! I found it stuck with me even better because of the “shock” or whatever you’d like to label it as, it startled me with !

Oh my gosh, we are so alike! I especially love that I have that exact same white Bible that I bought from Amazon a couple of years ago and I am very particular with it. I even go so far as to wash my hands before I handle any of my Bibles. Now, I have a very expensive Horween leather cover ESV and I absolutely love that Bible but its cover is very delicate in my opinion and tends to show any and every little mark it gets. I swear, it gets marks just by my looking at it! I practically have it on a pedestal and rarely reach for it for fear I will accidentally rub a fingernail against it or something else will happen to it. I know, Bibles are made to be used and it’s silly that I’m literally afraid to touch it! Between my OCD tendencies and my self inflicted perfectionism I am by far my own worst enemy.🤣Thanks for this video and helping me see I’m not alone in this……..😊

I’m not that big of neat freak but I don’t like tabs, post its, or write in my bible. I do store horizontally. I have 7 bibles now and 5 of them are the hardcover study bibles. Other 2 are leathersoft with gilded edges that I keep in the boxes. The hardcovers don’t have gilded edges so I don’t have to worry about the pages sticking. I am careful with turning due to most bibles having the thin pages. Wait maybe I am a neat freak like you. 😂

May I just say this that I am really happy with the fact that you draw my attention back frequently to “if you like XY Z you can do so, however here is what I personally do”, so frequently because I tend to forget and need reminding that “hey this is she does and she is more entitled to enjoy what she likes “ and I just love it when things draw my attention back to something so frequently honestly ! It’s like reading a really good story and it’s got multiple dimensions or aspects to it and your attention is drawn back to an important but forgotten topic or person or theme. I just love these things and o love what you’ve shown here ! It reminds me to keep my perspective open yet again as I watch this video because I am so drawn in and invested ! I am a messy yet organized person if that makes sense and I grew up with my mother being very particular about her romance novel collection and specifically how we are not to crease or bend the covers and pages , which I’ve adopted some of these traits for particularly special books and yet I am like the girl you mentioned with the torn Bible (Malachi Dawson)

Oh that's so nice of you to say, thank you, glory to God! Yes I think it's important to keep that reminder as what you said is spot on - if it's something you enjoy, you're more likely to do it so no personal preferences should be discouraged in my opinion. I just want to share my style that I don't really see being shared online, so others who are more minimalist like me can get ideas too! p.s. any tips for avoiding dirty edges on non-gilded bibles/books...it drives me crazy to see a little dark colored ring forming (even at the top where I don't touch the pages!!) wherever I have been reading!!!
@my-white-bible
5 күн бұрын
Oh yes that is such a pet peeve! If it's happening even if you're not touching the pages, then it's probably coming from dust and other external circumstances. My advice is to keep your Bible in a book sleeve where the pages are covered, or keep it in a box. If you want to leave it exposed, it will be harder to keep clean, but make sure it is tightly packed when storing it to avoid dust traps and build up. I just checked my commentary, and it is clean at the top, but is getting affected at the bottom where it's hitting the shelf when I store it, so can't win them all lol! Hope that helps sis
